Papillon is indeed a fine book but also an highly underrated film.......best scene in ANY movie is the Lepers scene when Steve McQueen drags on that cigar not knowing is the leprosy is contagious ....quality !!!!

Told you :D  Ok like lots of films, the books are often better but you can't argue with quality when you see it and Papillon has it in buckets :D

I'm a bit disappointed actually at the lack of quality films nominated in this thread. Can't help thinking people tend to go for what could be called "macho" films :D
