If Rafa hadn't of made some things public, we might still have H+G as owners.  And Purslow might of done much more long term damage to the club.

Wasn't Purslow instrumental in getting rid of Hicks and Gillet, he must be oveerjoyed by the gratitude he's receiving. On the flip side he did give Carra a new 5 year contract and lumber us with Hodgson but he did some good as well.

some people just don't like his manner, benny. some people don't like the way he always deflects blame from himself, they don't like the way he waves his dirty laundry about in public, and they don't like the football he serves up. i'll bet my life though, that each of the people who dislikes him for any of these reasons is also more than capable and more than happy to give him credit for winning us the CL and an FA cup. the two aren't mutually exclusive you see, despite the inability of most people to grasp that.

Some people could also easily be mistaken ,and misconstrue your description as one depicting all of Hodgson's foibles .... just replace European Cup ,and FA Cup with being the founder  of Scandinavian football and holder of the LMA  ..... seriously though .....
I personally think both are obviously inherently stubborn ,but most fans would concur that whilst Benitez no doubt possesses those traits you stated ,he also has some endearing qualities which have left a lasting impression on most Reds fans ,I have yet to see the current managers appealing quirks come to light .
I also admit that Roy was always in for an uphill battle with him being brought in by the last hierarchy ,but he hasn't exactly courted the favour of the fans ....so to speak...... has he ?

Thats all i asked both Andy and Ben - now go read through the thread and see the insults - only have to read a couple of Lee J recent efforts . Both of them are rightly critisized but neither deserve to be insulted and plenty have done to both and its disgusting .

As for his abilities - failing at inter for me doesnt mean he isnt a good manager - same as last season where he took his eye of the ball to fight the owners . His continued success with us and Valencia is what made him a good manager . If he has been sacked its a shame , but i hope he then goes and takes a little break from the game to recharge .

I would like hiim back here but think it would be the wrong thing to do at the moment and if he did come back here this forum is going to explode .

Correction...he should just concentrate on coaching the team 

All the jokes aside....he is a very good coach...one of the best in the world.

But when he takes on additional responsibilities like
1)revamping the youth team...
2)scouting players.....
3)trying to play political games with his agents & his b1tch Guillem Balague  (rewind the last few seasons.... whenever we were in a bad patch...rumours of real madrid interest in him always seems to pop up)...etc

ie......when he tries to be a manager, he screws up massively because he just doesn't have the ability to multi-task. Give him one goal (like the ultimatum by inter manager to win the world club championship) he will most likely do it ...but then he will screw up the serie A matches because this was not the immediate priority.

In a way...our current setup will suit benitez to a "T" as he will only need to coach the team. He doesn't have to scout players (thank god.....for that because he favours graft over craft).......doesnt have to worry about the youth team..etc.

Not that i am favouring him to come back....because i think we need to move on. No sane owner will hire a coach who always seems to fight with the board and unless he learns to accept responsibility for bad results and mistakes this will continue to loop no matter where he goes.

To summarise .....  i think benitez career as a top coach will only go down if he remains as pig headed as he has. He might make a good manager with a midtable team....and then end his career like our very own Roy Hodgson (in a way i think Benitez is the spanish version of Hodgson....so we need to get rid of Hodgson too )

I am trying to be extremely objective to benitez...and the above describes his strengths and weakness to all the laymen supporters of his.

I couldnt disagree with that.
Roy hasnt at all, i have never seen anyone in such a short space of time come in for as much criticism and abuse from LFC fans as Roy.
Its a shame but i do agree that at times he certainly hasnt helped himself and i also agree that it would be better for the club if he goes asap.

He was supporting tom hicks (FFS....Tom freaking Hicks)against the other gang of gilette & parry. He wasn't fighting for the fans...he just was fighting to secure his own future against parry.

Wenger hasn't won anything since 2005 and overall his record while Rafa was with us I think was close to being below Rafa yet do you see him getting slaughtered on a daily basis - even when we were doing well Rafa was slaughtered both in forums or in media .

The reason why wenger gets "favourable" press over Benitez is because of the way he builds his team. By buying players cheap and then selling them for a few folds .....he ensures the arsenal remain as one of the most profitable clubs in the world.

And lets not forget the fact that he has already won the premier league (twice) and has successfully rebuilt the team a few times under his command. Just look at the team arsenal has....and look at the grafters benitez has left us with.

If benitez really gets the sack...then thats saying something isn't it ? Roy hodgson managed to stay there for 2 seasons....and benitez couldn't even last 5 months there ....

Well it'll be good if Inter sacked Rafa... it's their lost... at least there is a possibility that Rafa might come back...
