[quote="[ before adding that the Salta" looks like probably a renewal (extension) of the contract that binds him to Liverpool. " [/quote]

Do I read this correctly that his contract will be extended again? Most likely meaning that they have given him more money?

Best scenario here, Suarez plays his rocks off, we qualify for the CL, madrid come in and spunk £60m on him next summer.  win win win & win for the club

Why would he need to leave if we get CL? We'd need to build the squad further and no reason for him to go....12 months is a long time in football....it could be all forgotten.

hope this is true, obviously the contract extension is a whopping pay rise but to be fair to luis he was the best player in the division last season and was leading the goalscoring charts until he was banned so imo he`s earned it. even with this pay rise he still wont be anywhere near the best paid player in the country when he deserves to be going by market forces etc..
he`s obviously off his rocker but thats probably why he was the only player who turned up away at stoke last season when everyone else in red (well...black) was waving the white flag.
he`s a fantastic player, and with him, coutinho, danny sturridge and maybe another marquee signing in our side i think we`ve got a hell of a chance of getting 4th, and at the end of the day thats what really matters.

Basically because he is an idiot and just in case you hadn't notice just a little bit of a WUM. Suarez staying will give the manager and the owners a greater chance of success and that will cause the haters a few sleepless nights. Realisation and acceptance can be very powerful motivators and we may just end up with an even better player. The apology will have to be very convincing. Yes the saga may repeat itself next summer but that is going to be down to the club as much as Suarez.

It's going to be very interesting to see how this is played out if indeed there is any truth in the story.

Totally agree here, especially about the realization and acceptance being a motivator. Can a leopard change it's spots......the optimists will say yes, the pessimists no.. In the short term, this is only good for us.

I love the way he`s making out its his decision to stay The affection from the fans didnt make any difference last week when he did that interview. Still its good news, we can forget about this for a while and hopefully at least make one quality signing before the window closes.

Quotes attributed to Suarez emerged in the Uruguayan newspaper, with the forward reported to have said ahead of Uruguay's friendly with Japan in Sendai, Tokyo: "For now, due to all of the people's affection (for me), I will be staying."

"LIVERPOOL: 6 European Cups, 20 Domestic Titles, 3 UEFA Cups, 8 FA Cups, 10 League Cups and 4 European Super Cups and 1 Club World Championship

All other English clubs pale into insignificance!"

"For now, owing to all the affection of the people, I would be staying,"

This statement from Suarez is really him saying "Sh*t I can't leave! you ***** outplayed my devious exit plan!, don't worry I'll just wait until January where I can fook up your whole season!!!"

Because of the way he has acted and treated out club with a total lack of respect for the values of the club and the way the fans have backed him despite every wrong move he has made. It was bad enough with his bans but he crossed a line this summer that will never be forgiven. If we are giving him a new contract I am disgusted - how the f*ck does he deserve to get any more money from us ! If he wants to stay then he stays on the current contract he has. Any apology or words from him now are hollow and meaningless. In the past Shanks or Bob would have thrown him out of the club !

perhaps the new contract (apart from more money) is to make an updated release clause, one which both parties are happy with, i.e. you can only leave if a bid of 50 million is received by a non uk side

I think he would be mad to sign a £50mil clause because as we can see this summer clubs won't pay that amount for him

of course they will, if he has another season even remotely like the last one, plus plays a blinder at the World Cup then I epxect his value to shoot up to £60 million.

This is good news, the club finally have soem balls and we have a player who hopefully will be wanting to play his ***** off for at least oen more season to finally get that move he wants.

I don't know why people think Suarez is crazy, or why people are suprised by this whole situation. This is the mandatory fun and games that happens between close season and the new one. Happens every year to someone, somewhere. But the goal posts have seriously shifted in the transfer market in recent years, and loopholes and such are aplenty, especially now that outside influences are running the sport.

Most fans are keeping their arms open for Suarez, playing the game, adding our own ficklety to proceedings. If Suarez is on the pitch for us this season and banging in the goals, then that's enough for me.

Exactly, world cup years resulted in numerous large transfers directly after the tournament.

I think if he does resign there will be a very clear release clause.
