Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

thought he was really good in the first half. the problem is, he has to work so hard to create his own chances that when it comes to finishing he lacks composure.

he's almost trying to be a no9 and no10 at the same time. he can't do it all.

Better finishing and he could have had a hatrick today. The rest of the team were bad though, generally so can't single him out.

Suarez was never signed to be our main striker and scorer of goals, so I don't know why he is expected to do so? He was brought in to partner Torres, not to replace Torres.

And then there was that ***** yellow card he got for descent. :no

Still, he was in frustrating mode today with his wastefulness in front of goal.  The two headed chances, especially, were gilt-edged and he made a mess of them both.  It's a completely different game if he buries that first one from Johnson's cross.  We were on the front foot of that point and it could have provided a platform to kick on, rather than get kicked in the jewels by the Gera stunner and then drop several ***** in the second half.  Not singling Suarez out or anything--there were lots of red men well short of their best today--just wondering what might have been if he'd had his targeting system dialed in today.

thats the nail on the head, for all the talk about new philosophies and playing styles just like last season the only time we seem to create a chance is when luis produces a bit of magic. he cant do it all on his own.

I'm not expecting him to bag 20+ goals a season.  I am expecting him to bury free headers mere yards from goal when given the chance, though.  Ahh well, onwards and upwards.

His wastefulness does cost us dear, this is true, but FSG should do the right thing and give Brendan enough funds to bring in another striker. Someone who can play further ahead of Suarez and who can finish like Van Persie.

at the moment i fear he's still using the same targeting system as last season
honestly though he really needs to work on his finishing  :nod  or move him wide and let borini play central.

borini should be playing central anyway for me. suarez does most of his best work from wider areas anyway and certainly shouldn't be leading the line unless he has midfield runners playing off him.

i dont think borini is strong enough yet to lead the line in english football, i couldnt imagine him relishing the prospect of being directly marked (and barged around) by the likes of terry, shawcross, vidic, hangeland, ivanovic etc
not at this stage of his career anyway

we still haven't replaced torres, that's the bottom line. by that i mean a clinical striker who'll take chances.

id have thought borini would have played central when i seen the line up.he was poor out wide and imo is a trigger man so should have suarez doing the donkey work for him.suarez provides the same threat regardless of what position he plays where as borini has to be a better finisher.
suarez left borini centre and gerrard right is our best shot of goals this season.had we of went with that as a front 3 with lucas(sitting) while allen and shelvey did the supporting we would have probably got a better result.
carroll can be rotated with borini in that system offers us a completely different threat in matches and would have bagged at least 2 of those chances suarez spurned.
