The banners say: “Ferguson, wash your mouth out before you talk about Sir Suarez”, “Suarez, Uruguay is with you” and “Suarez is Nacional, Evra must be Penarol”. Penarol are Nacional’s rivals.

it was good to read in the echo today that as far as liverpool football club are concerned luis suarez is under contract until 2016 and he`s going absolutely nowhere in the summer.
infact they want to build a team around him.
i say it was good to read that because the echo initially had one or two articles after last saturday questioning wether suarez was worth all the hassle, the echo is very close to the club so i did start to wonder (and worry) if offloading luis was an option being seriously considered behind the scene`s at anfield.
if we sold suarez we may as well put ferguson on the wagebill seems he`s deciding who should come and go, why bother wasting money on kenny and comoli if ferguson`s calling the shots?

Reg wrote:Uruguay president supports Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, insisting 'he is not a racist' and row has been 'exaggerated'

The president of Uruguay has defended Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, insisting his compatriot "is not a racist and never will be".

16 Feb 2012

Jose Mujica felt the situation surrounding the 25-year-old Liverpool player and his eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra had been over-hyped.

Speaking to Uruguayan radio station M24, the president said: "There is solidarity with Suarez. Suarez is not a racist and never will be."

In a separate interview, with weekly newspaper Busqueda, he added that the case had been "exaggerated".

"There is nothing racist," said Mujica, adding that "some do not understand" Suarez and did not study "diplomatic protocol".

Mujica added: "He's a young genius on the football field, (and) humble."

The president's support came hours after Uruguay captain Diego Lugano gave his backing to his international team-mate in the wake of more criticism for not shaking Evra's hand in last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

"Keep in mind that England is a country historically colonial and racism is very delicate, but we know that has nothing to do with the relationship between Luis and the United player," he told Uruguayan television station Canal 10.

Lugano added that Suarez "has gone through a few months he did not deserve".

"All of us in football know it's a big circus. For what did Luis on Saturday must have balls. He followed his convictions," said the defender who plays for Paris Saint Germain - the side today linked with a summer move for Suarez.

"We live in a democracy and if you do not want to greet someone, do not greet them."

Bit of a shame that some of own supporters failed to give him the same level of support Reg !!

Great to see Kenny demanding that Luis took the penalty against Brighton. It's called sticking together when the world is against you.

Wouldn't let him near another penalty :D

Stevie seems to be the only person in our squad that can score a pen!  For that reason alone he should nearly always be on the pitch.

Unless something catastrophic happens no-one should miss a penalty

I'd let Pepe have a go at penno's.

Good signs that Suarez is starting to focus a bit more now, some of his play was great yesterday, he looked like the Suarez we signed last season.

keep it up Luis

Even Dirk missed the only peno he took this season.  Was against Everton I think.  Adam scored one and missed one.  Carroll missed one and Suarez has missed 2.

We've only scored 1 out of 6 peno's when Gerrard didn't take them.  Thats shocking to say the least.

God forbid we end up in a penalty shoot out in one of the cup competitions!  :D

The goal at the end will do him a world of good.

My bet to be man of the match at Wembley.
