Holders Sevilla squeezed into the Uefa Cup quarter-finals after a dramatic 3-2 success over Shakhtar Donetsk in extra-time.

In a remarkable game, Sevilla goalkeeper Andres Palop sent the tie into extra-time before Javier Chevanton plundered the decisive goal on 105 minutes.

Following a 2-2 draw in Spain in the first leg, Juande Ramos' side were facing a tough task to make it through to the last eight.

Enzo Maresca struck the post late in the first half before Shakhtar took the lead four minutes into the second period when Francesco Matuzalem finished low from Olexii Byelik's cross.

Within just four minutes Sevilla were level with a goal scored in similar fashion as Maresca swept home a low shot from Daniel Alves' right-wing cross.

But Shakhtar regained the lead on 83 minutes when Matuzalem turned provider for Elano to finish clinically, with Jadson having earlier hit the post.

And with Sevilla throwing everything forward in search of the necessary equaliser, keeper Palop proved an unlikely hero when he headed home Alves' corner four minutes into injury-time.

Sevilla then grabbed the winning goal at the end of the first period of extra-time as Chevanton accepted a pass from Luis Fabiano to send the holders through 5-4 on aggregate.
