Will be a shame if we let him go again like this. I know it was his fault for leaving in the first place but we have a real chance of winning the league this season. All we are lacking is some goals up front and he can give that to us.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

1. Owen stays fit for a few games and scores a few good goals;
2. His contract is about to end and in negotiaiton of new one.

"1" and "2" often go hand in hand....isn't it obvious?

He's trying to say that owen is only staying fit as his contract is running out and he wants a new one thus by impressing and scoring goals , newcastle or other clubs will offer him a wage packet similar to the one he is getting now .

Yeah that's rediculous but perhaps a footballer says to himself. My contract is comming up I better not cut corners on my recovery work. I can't afford to get injured.

There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Owen 7

Kuyt 7

Goals this season. One has been played as a striker EVERY minute he has been on the pitch. The other plays inside right.

They league goals Leon?

You're right though pure stats don't tell the tale on any player I don't think. On the question of Kuyt, it's amazing to me that each time he plays wide on the right he at least looks like he could potentially score a goal (and often did at the start of the season), whereas up top he looks like he could play till the year 2010 and not get his name on the scoresheet. It simply must be a mental thing, that when he plays in midfield he doesn;t feel the pressure to score and so therefore he does it more naturally.

Also the stats you've quoted obviously don't include inutes on the pitch. As we are all aware (painfully so most recently) Kuyt has been on the pitch for an awful lot of Liverpool's competitive minutes this season, whereas Owen has no doubt been injured three or four times by now (I don't know this I'm just guessing).

If you calculated the goals per minute ratio I'm sure it would reveal two truths. Firstly, Owen doesn't play many minutes, and secondly when he does he scores quite a lot of goals.

Given that when Torres is fit we might well need somebody who doesn't play lots of minutes but when he does scores goals, it would appear to a runner. The obvious barriers to it are a) whether we can forgive and forget, b) whether we can afford his fee and wages and c) whether he'll stand for not very minutes.

Obviously that makes Kuyt better than Owen then.

That settles it.

Cisse was obviously better than Kuyt then aswell.

Also, I reckon you should check your facts. :nod

Kuyt   5 goals in 1495 mins  total shots 43

Owen 7 goals in   889 mins  total shots 17

You mean something like that Mick :D

And here's something you could win money with, last season Owen played for MORE minutes in the league than Kuyt!

Owen 2177       11 goals
Kuyt  2163         3 goals
