The spanish thread. - Ola and welcome.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby bigmick » Wed Jul 04, 2007 9:26 am

I don't know any Spanish myself, but I've seen the request for a thread in Spanish and I think it's a good idea. Imagine how we would have felt if Fowler in his prime had signed for Barca, many would have followed his progress via the forums and I'm sure many AM fans will do the same with Torres. My feeling is that is asking a lot for those lads to express their opinions in English all the time, and it would be nice for them to have a spot where they can sound off.

If Sabre would be good enough to bounce any interesting points over to the English speaking bit, and vice-versa we might actually learn a little bit about our record signing, how he likes to play, strengths, weaknesses etc etc.

I hope as we are undoubtedly going to pick up some new supporters, interested parties and observers that poeple on here will welcome diverse views and try and understand the motivation of supporters of other clubs to contribute, and be tolerant of any mistakes in mentioning unmentionables etc etc.

I don't speak for the forum (mainly because I can't, everyone has their own views) but I think I at the very least speak for the moderators on here when I say welcome to the AM and more specifically, Fernando Torres fans. I am sure once your hero has done great things at Liverpool and become the fantastic player which you all believe he can be, in a few years time he will come back to you and you will welcome him back like a son. Walk on and welcome.

Thank you Mick, I'll of course translate the relevant bits of discussion, and I'll try to guide them aswell here so that their contribution is better in other threads.

Tackle = Entrada
Sliding Tackle = Segada
Header = Cabezazo, remate de cabeza
Dribbling = Regate
Rotation = Rotación
Studs = Tacos
Set Pieces = Balón parado.
Cross = Centro (de centrar el balón)
Striker = delantero
Holding Midfielder = Pivote.
Attacking Midfielder = Media punta
Medias = Socks.
Botas = boots.
Pace= Velocidad
Strenght = Fuerza
Opposition = Equipo contrario, oposición
Long Ball = Balón largo
Pitch = Terreno de juego
Crowd = Afición
Supporter = Hincha
Silverware = Trofeos ganados, títulos
CL = Champions League, Liga de Campeones
Wings = Bandas

I'll complete it with time !!

Muchas gracias Sabre por las molestias que te estas tomando, la verdad que los traductores son poco eficientes, y el nivel de inglés de algunos de nosotros bastante pobre. Es estupendo tener un español que nos pueda guiar.

Good idea.

I have no problem with threads in different languages. Most of them would make more sense than posts by the likes of Spion anyway.
