I agree it was a mistake to spend so much on an injured player though, even though he is very talented, he is always a risk when it comes to injury. But the point is, when he is fit play him because he is a very good player.

depends how long Roy has been looking at getting rid of him. I agree it's disapointing, like everyone i was hoping to see the the real Aquilani in action, but the fact that Rafa only used him against average opposition rang alarm bells long ago.

maybe we can loan him to Real and get our xabi back  :D

Even if it was just against lesser opposition he always did twice as much as Lucas or Masch did against that exact same lesser opposition, so it doesn't justify not keeping him around.

but he can't/wont tackle. I went to the Reading cup match and watched in horror as Aquilani stood by and let players run past him with the ball.

Zidane wrote:I honestly think Roy made promises to Stevie/Joe that they would be played nowhere else other than their favoured positions, even if it wasn't what was best for the team.  I think Jova, Aqua, Masch, Cole with Gerrard/Torres up front is our best possible midfield/forward lineup, but Roy had to make these promises to said players to get them to stay/sign here.

sounds to me like joe cole was promised to be in every game so prob aqua goes to roy and asks the same but is denied thats why he aint stopping and who cud blame him. but now cole band for 3 games we wont have aqua now to fill in for him. nice one joe

Ive actually got a sneaky feeling Roy is having to ship him out because of funds.

I think around 5 Million of his transfer fee depends upon appearences/goals he makes and weather we qualify for the champions league. Loaning him out will avoid this.

hmmmm

I don't think Hodgson was impressed by him thats why he is loaning him out, and prob sell him at the end of next season. As a player, I'm sure he is very talented as he showed some last season, but the timing of buying him was very poor.

Well I still have hope that he does well on loan and comes back firing all cylinders, although I doubt it

Terrible decision we either keep him or sell him, what is the point of loaning him out? we dont benefit in any way what so ever. The squad is thread bare as it especially for players with any sort of creative talent. Aquilani has been an absolute disaster of signing, it seems like he was signed without a plan of how to use him!

Now I changed my mind about Hodgson not impressed with him :D

I think the boss will be patient with him, loan him out, see how he fairs and if he is class act with the italian club he will give him a chance next season.

thats never gonna happen, if he does well on loan he will get sold back to a club in Italy for a knock down price. Stupid decision, even by this clubs recent standards.

If he does go out on loan. It is just a showcase to possible suitors. This means there is no takers right now. We are basically stuck with him and loaning him out would help ease off the wages and if he does well on loan and someone buys him, we can at least get back some of the money. A fact is that we will never gonna recoup the 20million spent on him. Since he has no use for us, might as well try to turn him into someone Roy wants. I think Roy's decision is a good one as I never rate Aqua. He just doesn't cut it in a brutallly physical league like the EPL. I also believed his will is weak and not trying to be racist but i think Italian are more lay back in general and thus not many can make it in EPL.
