If he'd left with us when we were on a downward spiral then I'd have understood his decision. But he's leaving us when we've just won the premier league.

And not just that, he's left us for Madrid. He's stabbed us in the back for money, just like Macca and Owen did.

His legacy is now tarnished forever.

Of all the players who have moved on, this one bothers me the least.

I’m not going to deny he’s a very good player, but he’s been poor this season and his head has clearly been in Madrid for months.

He’s been a joy and a nightmare to watch at times.

I wish him the best, but I’m not as gutted as I was when we lost Mane.

I agree, in his day he can be unplayable but Trent is inconsistent. Just a shame we didn't get a handsome fee, could've used it to bolster the squad. Last 3 games Slot should play Bradley. Next seasons work should begin now.

The worst kept secret in football 

He's not going for the money as I'd bet we offered more than what Madrid is giving. He cost us nothing at the end of the day and leaves for nothing which is the clubs fault. They shouldn't have let him run it down and it doesn't seem to bother them because they keep letting it happen. He's been here 20 years and almost half of that went to helping us win the trophies we did. Il always be grateful for that so best of luck to him. He could be reunited with Klopp in the summer as well as Carlo is off. That's his best chance imo of sticking it out as I don't think he's good enough to be a star there.

To sum him up. He's an alright player but nothing special. He's not a good defender either. His Hollywood passing is hit and miss. Couldn't hit a barn door most days but when one does the commentators cream themselves. If he wasn't English he would be viewed as bang average. Bradley is a much better fit for the team defensively and the rest of his game is decent so we aren't going to miss Trent at all. He will be back in the prem in 2 or 3 seasons is my bet and probably in an Arsenal shirt!! Madrid will probably pocket 50 mil from it as well

I think we're slightly underrating his importance to the team. Yes he's inconsistent but he is also our most creative player, his out of the box thinking helps us immensly in scoring goals. Also, he's one of the main reasons why Salah has so many goal contributions, their understanding with each other is huge and will be hard to replicate. Won't be a huge miss like Virgil or Mo would have been but still important.

Anyway, I'm really surprised by people's meek reactions to him departing on a free. It's not the club's fault he's decided to leave like this, Real Madrid have wanted him for two years but ONLY if he goes there on free transfer. They would have never paid a dime for him so how were we supposed to sell him before his contract ran out anyway? The club did everything in their power to keep him including a large salary but he was more concerned of what Real wanted than his boyhood club that he apparently wanted to captain one day. We just won the Prem. too and Madrid have won nothing so what the hell is he leaving us for? Sending him off with applause and "it's the club's fault" talks will only make it OK for others to do the same thing in the future as well. Why shouldn't Konate now do the same if the local boy can do it with no consequences?

If the club have been savvy they may have a sell on clause in the contract, so if in 3 years he returns to say Arsenal for £50m we pocket a few quid.

I do think we will miss him, he has a fantastic range of passing and great vision, he is probably our most creative outlet even though they may be long passes. As a defender he tends to switch off but he has reinvented the role and players don’t do that too often, he is in a sense a generational player. I really cannot blame him for choosing warmer weather, I did the same as I hate cold weather and if you are sporty then warm weather feels a lot better on the joints, especially if you had a lot of injuries. I get that people from Liverpool may be feeling let down as he has in a sense rejected them and the city but as I said, it feels a lot better playing in warm weather than it does in the cold humid air that blows from the sea and the river, the weather factor cannot be underestimated and especially for athletes.

Having said all that, as soon as he doesn’t wear the shirt anymore he’s a rival. I won’t boo him but I certainly won’t support him. At the end of the day, no one will idolize him as they do now, no one will sing his name as they do now and if he has a bad game then the fickle Real supporters will easily turn on him. We don’t need to punish him as he will be the ultimate loser as he will no longer be playing for his childhood club and the club he supports, I think it will hurt him more than it does the club. At the end of the day, legacy last a lot longer than money.

In fairness to Trent, he massively contributed to the Klopp era and together with Robbo revolutionised the role of the full back. He's not the greatest defender, technically Bradley's the better player however Trent's vision, unpredictability and willingness to attack (hence all the assists) created value rarely seen in a defender. He'll be greatly missed however our team is constantly evolving and with Robbo also losing a yard of pace, Slot will have to redefine the role of the next pair of FB's. Maybe that role is no redundant as we no longer have a Fabinho there to sweep up when the FB's got caught out of position. The key thing is to recruit players who can dominate, whatever their position.

I remember the 2019 CL final in Madrid, there wasn't a single player I would have replaced in that team. We just have to get back to that point.

"Real Madrid are aiming to complete the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold before the start of the Club World Cup.

The England defender has confirmed he will leave Liverpool when his contract expires this summer and the 26-year-old is expected to join the Spanish club as a free agent.

Alexander-Arnold's contract with Liverpool expires on 30 June but the Club World Cup begins 16 days earlier.

BBC Sport understands Real have approached Liverpool with a view to negotiating a deal to release Alexander-Arnold in time for the full-back to be part of their plans for the Fifa-organised tournament in the United States.

It is understood the Spanish club are considering an offer of about £850,000 to release Alexander-Arnold early from his deal.

It has also been suggested Real might be willing to pay the wages Liverpool owe Alexander-Arnold as they seek a solution.

Discussions between all parties are described as amicable.

World football governing body Fifa has confirmed there will be a short initial transfer window this summer - running from 1 to 10 June - which is designed for clubs competing in the Club World Cup to amend their squads in time for the competition.

Real's desire to land Alexander-Arnold in time for the tournament presents an opportunity for Liverpool to recoup at least some money for a high-value player who will otherwise leave Anfield for no fee."

People will still blame the club if that happens as well, but would wish all the best to the likes of Trent and Konate if he decides to do that in the future. Trent with his behaviour is pretty much normalizing leaving the club that made you into what you are for nothing and some fans see nothing wrong with that. Absolutely no reason for Konate not to do the same after next season, and others in the future.

Anyway, back in the day a lot of our players were unsettled and bought by Barcelona, so one of the better clauses we had in the Coutinho deal was that they couldn't go after our players in the following 2 or 3 seasons. If Real want Trent a few days before his contract ends with us we should include a similar clause for them as well.

I have to agree.. Bradley is our Jordan Ibe and Trent is Raheem Sterling.
