The last one was just super cringe and if this is like the tennis ones they do it will be worse.

Christ that's all we need, no wonder this fella is hiding in Ibiza, he's trying to stay out of the way. Dont blame him tbh, I've never seen a manager look good in one. I'm starting to get a bit of an ominous feeling about this upcoming season.

It's a bit odd this but apparently filming started last December and with the approval of Klopp. It's an 8 episode series due to be screened ahead of the new season in August. Rumours though that they might be struggling to sell it to any networks.

I think he is playing it right, no need to come on strong. He looks friendly and real much like Klopp did when he first came, remember “just call me the normal one”. I do buy that he wanted to be low key in this “farewell to Klopp” period. He hasn’t met any of the players so he’s just doing his homework watching training videos that he would not have been able to see until now.

I like the vibe he gives off. He seems friendly, jolly and quietly confident.

Hmmm, not sure what to make of him yet, I got a kind of Dutch Benetiz vibe  ?  .
Obviously wish him well. Let's face it any manager would find it hard to fill Jurgens shoes (one of the reasons why Alonso said no ? ) so have to salute the guy for taking the job on.

A good bit of stuff has been released in the last few days. Only thing I'm not liking is that he's talking about watching training sessions & games. Also said in the intervie above that he will work with what he has.

I get that he doesn't want to be klopp but I don't want to see him try to be as we needed change. I don't want us to line up the same way all the time as we are really obvious and teams have our number. I also don't want to see same players shoehorned into positions that don't suit them. All I can say is live in klopps shadow at your own risk or stand up and be counted. Be your own man.

We have manure 3 games in so that's his 1st big test. It won't be a good sign if ten fags has his number.

As Kazza said he does come across as quite a pleasnt fella and someone easy to get on with which is not always a given, i agree with RTID though he needs to be his own man and bring fresh idea's to the table. Bob had the good sense to not to try and copy Bill and i hope Arnie does the same.

Arne Slot has confirmed the identities of three new arrivals who will be joining him at Liverpool.

The Dutchman has left Eredivisie giants Feyenoord after three years in order to succeed the legendary Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside this summer, with his Anfield reign officially beginning on June 1.

Slot gave his first official interview as Liverpool’s new manager on Wednesday, during which he covered a multitude of topics including an update on the club’s summer transfer plans following the arrival of Richard Hughes from Bournemouth as sporting director.

Former sporting director Michael Edwards has also returned after three years away as CEO of Football under the Reds’ owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG), taking over control of day-to-day football operations from FSG president Mike Gordon.

More incomings for a new era at Liverpool have now been confirmed, with Slot joined at Anfield by Sipke Hulshoff. The former Netherlands coach and Feyenoord Under-21s boss had been Slot’s assistant at De Kuip since 2022.

Liverpool are also hiring Ruben Peeters as their new lead physical performance coach as expected, while German Fabian Otte will leave his role with the United States national team after the upcoming Copa America tournament in the USA in order to become the Reds’ head of first-team goalkeeper coaching.

Slot also confirmed that himself and Hughes were still looking to fill more positions in the club’s backroom team this summer, with a whole host of staff following Klopp’s exit in the likes of Pep Lijnders, Peter Krawietz, Vitor Matos, John Achterberg, Ray Haughan, Jack Robinson, Andreas Kornmayer and Andreas Schlumberger.

Etienne Reijnen reportedly looks to be staying at Feyenoord however along with Jyri Nieminen, another member of Slot’s former backroom staff.

"I bring in Sipke Hulshoff, who's been my assistant for a few years now at Feyenoord,” Slot told Liverpool’s in-house media team.

“I worked with him long ago, I worked with him at Cambuur Leeuwarden as well. He was the assistant of Ronald Koeman of the Dutch national team as well, but he is going to join me now from the start.

“A bit older than me, I think, not so much but a bit older than me. Because we work together for such a long time, I think the both of us know exactly what we want when it comes to game model, playing style – and I think that helps.

"Then we will bring in a performance coach, Ruben Peeters, who is going to help me and the club with – how would I put this in English words? – the way we are working on the physical side. Us three have worked together at Feyenoord for three years now and we know how we want to work, which is normal.

"And then there's a replacement in the goalkeeping staff as well – we've brought in Fabian Otte, who was working at Borussia Monchengladbach and is still now with the USA team at the Copa America.

"So those are the first positions we filled in and I think we are still looking for one or two other positions. Richard [Hughes] and me are calling each other a lot, not only about this but also about the positions we still have to fill in."

So, what would you do if you were in the shoes of Reds head honchos Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes this summer? Here's what we've come up with:

Contract conundrums
So before we do anything in the transfer market there are quite clearly three pressing issues to be addressed, namely the contract situations around Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who all have just a year left on their deals. They are arguably Liverpool's three best players, and we're not giving Slot the easiest possible start by letting things drift like this.

As club captain, Van Dijk can surely be persuaded to sign a one or two year extension to his current deal. He'll be 33 next week but still has plenty of time left at the top. Salah, who turned 32 two weeks ago, is a bit of a different case, but at such a time of flux there's no need to get rid of him. I'd see if he wants to sign an extension but if not then it isn't the end of the world. He can leave on his own terms next summer as one of Liverpool's all-time greats and everyone can shake hands.

Alexander-Arnold, at just 25, is obviously a different story. His contract talks are likely being tied to his two elder team-mates, as he and his people will want to see what money they end up on before any deal is agreed. It'll get over the line eventually though. He loves the club and the city and will be Liverpool captain one day.

Saying goodbye
Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara both bade farewell to Liverpool along with Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season, but there will have to be more exits from the squad as it is fine tuned for Slot.

Third-choice goalkeeper Adrian is out of contract and wants to move back to Spain, but the expected exit of Caoimhin Kelleher should only happen if there's a big offer. The Irishman does deserve to establish himself as a No.1, but he's still young for a goalkeeper and Alisson does pick up injuries. With an expanded Champions League there will be more games than ever for Liverpool in the new season, so he shouldn't just be sold for the sake of it.

At the back it is probably time for Kostas Tsimikas to be moved on after four years as deputy to Andy Robertson. The Greek should fetch a decent amount of money, while there are obvious exits for Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams. Sepp van den Berg is an interesting case and is probably a player Slot wants to look at before allowing to leave, but ultimately it might also be best to let him go.

In midfield, while Liverpool aren't one of the clubs in danger of breaching any Profitability and Sustainability Rules they will still want to keep on top of them. That's why the sale of Tyler Morton could appeal after he impressed on loan at Hull. Fabio Carvalho was on Humberside for the second half of the season too, and while Slot will probably want a look at him it is difficult to see where he gets into the team.

In attack there doesn't really need to be any drastic sales, although Ben Doak could benefit from a year out on loan, especially now Kaide Gordon has returned to fitness.

Incomings
Right now for the fun part. Obviously a new third-choice goalkeeper will be needed with Adrian gone, but as long as they are preferably homegrown to help comply with Premier League rules then it isn't all that important who it is.

In defence there are clearly a couple of big moves that can be made, and we'll start with a deal for Wolves' Rayan Ait-Nouri, who can alternate with Robertson at left-back and provide a different outlet going forward.

Another centre-back is also going to be needed, and Liverpool have a long standing interest in Sporting Lisbon's left-sided Goncalo Inacio. With him, Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Jarell Quansah as centre-back options, plus the versatile Joe Gomez able to play anywhere across the back and Conor Bradley and Alexander-Arnold for right-back, the defence is pretty set.

In midfield, many would have you believe that Liverpool need to sign a No.6, but if Slot is to play the 4-2-3-1 we saw at Feyenoord then maybe they don't. Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Stefan Bajcetic, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexander-Arnold and perhaps Bobby Clark and James McConnell, if they're not loaned out, can all play in one of the two midfield positions, and if there isn't an obvious and available upgrade then so be it.

The fact there are the three players behind the one attacker then opens up the idea that the Reds could go for a new winger.

Slot's approach could often see four of the club's five current established attackers on the pitch at any one time, while there's also Harvey Elliott who can play on the right or in the centre.

With the amount of games played, energy expended and with five subs available then another big hitter could be added, and that is where talk of a deal for Anthony Gordon is fascinating. Newcastle's PSR issues could force them to sell, and a Liverpool swoop for the Scouser - and former Everton player - would be huge in more ways than one.

We clearly need to sign 2 or 3 quality players, we did well last year but ultimately we fell short, I'm not just talking about that two or three week spell during the run in where we played United a couple of times and Atlanta and Everton blah blah blah I'm talking about us coming up a bit short in the big head-to-head clashes which we have done for a while now. We often finish bottom of that little mini league made up of the teams in contention for major honours. Lots of draws and a smattering of losses in there but few actual wins, that needs to improve but to regularly beat the City's and Arsenal's you need top players.
Lets not kid ourselves, title winning teams dont go behind/concede the first goal as many times as we did last year, we need a bit more than a tweak, we need to sign players who will significantly improve us not just pad out the squad.

We had long term injuries to Matip, Thiago etc.. which seriously weakened the squad. We have to learn to let go of those players who aren't available for a minimum 80% of the season.

Harvey Elliott says Arne Slot's style of play is a typically "elegant" Dutch style - compared to Jurgen Klopp's 'heavy metal football'.
The 21-year-old started the 1-0 win over Real Betis to open Liverpool's United States tour and was speaking before a match against Arsenal at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

When asked what was Slot's answer to Klopp's often-dubbed 'heavy metal football', Elliott said: "It's very elegant, Dutch style, it's very nice.
"The style of play is a lot different. It's more about in possession now. The players are excited, we play certain patterns, it is a good buzz around the team and the lads are excited to apply it in games.

"It's a fresh start for everyone. I don't think it is nerves but excitement. I think we [will learn it] very quickly to be honest. We have seen in the last game there were certain moments where the amazing football was free-flowing.
"It's pre-season and it is only the first couple of games and we need to keep trusting what they are teaching us. We need to keep going if things don't work out [immediately] because it is all new."

Elliott played as one of two number 10s with Dominik Szoboszlai against Betis as the Reds had no senior strikers available for their opening match.
Slot explained last time out that he sees the pair competing for that spot in attacking midfielder and, when asked whether a new role could help him make his England debut, Elliott continued: "I hope so. It's just down to me to put in the work, put in the performances.

"You can say it all you want but it is down to me to work as hard as I can, perform in training and games, so it is on myself. There's no one I could blame apart from me.
"I just wanted to come back early to get to grips with the new style of play and meet the coaching staff and gaffer for the first time.
"It gives me a chance to get up and running in pre-season. I feel like I've done that. I just need to keep going and building."
