For anyone who ever doubted Henderson then just looked at this picture - that’s our captain

Awesome man Hendo, true professional, integrity, effort, drive, ambition, leadership, proving the doubters wrong over and over again! The scenes with his Dad last night....

Do you get that thing happening where Benny's pictures are absolutely massive and all the posts in the thread end up offset to the left and ridiculously tiny or is it just my iPad?

How can anyone doubt this guys passion.. It was his moment in the spotlight and I couldn't have been more proud of him being our captain and bringing home no6.

Big heart yes, but ability wise? , we can do a little better. He hasn't been the replacement for Stephen Gerrard we were hoping for.

But nevertheless, glad he lifted this cup.

1. Leads by example in terms of play on the field and has a ruthless streak when needed- not just being a nice clean cut guy off it

2. Inspires others around him to be at their best and improve their level of performance or at least their commitment

3. When the proverbial hits the fan in a game takes it by the scruff of the neck and/or goes out on his shield

Name the games where Hendo has done any of these - you wont need too many fingers...

Then take a look at the Hughes, Sounesses, Dalglishes, Gerrards etc of the world.

Interesting reading back through the thread and then seeing him lift the trophy

He is the club captain so naturally if we win something he will be the one to lift it. No one can take that away from him and having missed out so many times he deserved to lift one.

The emotion pouring out of him after the game was touching and especially those scenes with his dad. Delighted for him that he got to experience this.

Anyway he is a good lad, honest, hardworking and committed but not captain material for me.

I don't doubt he has been a decent captain for us, in terms of work rate and leadership. But when you're used to the quality that Gerrard brought, then I think Henderson still falls way short. Then again, it also doesn't help that you've already got a better captain in the club than Henderson. Who can really say Hendo is a better captain who ticks all the boxes more than Van Dijk?

Yes, it seems like it’s his banner, as you said, on my iPad also.
