I would have expected all this nonsense to have stopped after last season but I guess some need to have a crutch.

Well I have to admit that my opinion of the lad has changed. It is clear to see that Klopp rates him very highly as club captain and to be honest that is good enough for me. The other players including VVD clearly respect him. His desire yesterday demonstrated why perhaps when we lost him for the last few games of our title challenge under Rodger's is a key reason why we fell short. Champions League winner, 97 points in the league and a record start to this season our perhaps reason enough for people to appreciate that the lad is Liverpool through and through. Possibly not the best at what he does but does anybody else show more desire. Time to get off his back. He played brilliantly yesterday and was a massive reason why we came away with three points !!

"I do agree that his loss at the end of the Rogers title challenging season was a big loss but that was 2014, we are now in 2019 and although he played well yesterday, his good games are getting few and far between. Although he is good at harrying midfielders and breaking up play he has a habit now of losing the ball in dangerous areas and gets bypassed by more skilful midfielders. I think we need a bit more quality in there these days."
The reason he wasnt there at the end of the 2014 season was because he got himself sent off and banned for a ridiculous kn'obhead challenge. It could be argued that he cost us the title that year because of his stupidity?
He had a decent game yesterday, not as many fu'ck ups as usual and scored his first goal in nearly four years (yes FOUR). His passion and work rate are outstanding but his lack of skill and ability is scary. I think hes a genuine lad and a good footballer who could probably get in a top four team, but is he really good enough to captain LFC?
Van Dyke is a no brainer for me...
