Liverpool are set to open talks with German club Hoffenheim over a deal for midfielder Roberto Firmino.

The Reds have been tracking Firmino closely in the last few months, and now manager Brendan Rodgers wants to push ahead with a deal.

According to reports in Germany, Liverpool chief Ian Ayre will fly out to open negotiations with Hoffenheim over 22-year-old in the coming days.

Firmino, a creative midfielder who can play on the wing or as a striker, is also a target for Chelsea after scoring 16 goals and picking up 11 assists in 33 matches last term.

He was unlucky to miss out on a place in the Brazil squad for the World Cup, but he has a bright future in the game.

Liverpool value him at about £15million but could go to £20million to get their man.

You really are a complete and utter space cadet.

How can you say that about a player you've never heard of, just because you've seen a youtube clip of him in a league which has only a hand full of decent sides and one outstanding one?

Then you have the nerve to slag off Coutinho, who's one of our best players?

???

Do us a favour lad, go and jump on the United band wagon or something.

As for the proposed signing, another "top class" name we're linked with?

I've heard of this player, but that's about it. They say he's similar (and better) to Max Meyer of Schalke, another player we've been linked with. I've seen Meyer a few times and he's a good player, and if this guy is better then maybe we should give it a try. But 15 million seems like a lot to me. I'd rather we spent a few million more and go for Sanchez.

Liverpool are ready to make a £25million move for Lazar Markovic - with the super Serb willing to come, reports the Sunday People's Alan Nixon.

Brendan Rodgers has gone back in for his number one target as both Benfica and the Serbian superstar send out positive messages.

The Kop chief has been on midfield magician Markovic's trail for months as People Sport first revealed.

But now the £30million valuation is falling - and Liverpool also understand that Markovic is keen to come.

Liverpool feared Chelsea would come in late with a move for Markovic, but the word from the player's camp is that he prefers Anfield.

Now Rodgers hopes a price can be agreed fast, with Liverpool's chances set for a boost if Benfica can find a replacement.

Benfica are keen on Manchester United's Portuguese winger Nani and could land him as Louis van Gaal is prepared to let him go.

Liverpool are set to make a £27million bid for Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez after watching him tear apart Australia at the World Cup.

The Reds had scouts in attendance as Sanchez scored one and made the other as Chile beat the Socceroos 3-1 in their opening match at Brazil 2014.

And now Brendan Rodgers wants to launch a bid to bring him to Anfield, with Liverpool poised to make a £27million offer.

Reports in Spain say Barca would part with the player if the price is right, with new manager Luis Enrique keen to build a new-look squad.

Manchester United are also keen on Sanchez but he has made it clear that he wouldn't move to a club that is not in the Champions League.

Liverpool are on the lookout for at least two world class signings this summer, as they prepare for a push for the Premier League title next term.

I knew something like this was gonna come from one of you holier-than-thou personalities...

I found out that I can tell a player's true abilities from looking at their youtube videos... and I can do this by looking at minute details which most people don't usually see. so what? don't be jealous just because you don't have that ability...

As for Coutinho, I wasn't slagging him off dumbass, he is one of my favourite players... but one thing he can't do is finish! That's a fact... deal with it...

Hope you guys took note of Ricardo Rodriguez in the last match. We should be hearing a few rumors about him and us if the Moreno deal falls through.

Markovic or Sanchez would be great signings, much better than Lallana or Shaqiri.
The midfield and defence are more of a priority IMO but they are such good players you'd have to be off your rocker to turn your nose up at either of those 2.

Liverpool target Antonio Candreva could leave Lazio in the summer after revealing his Champions League ambition.

The Italy international, currently with his country's World Cup squad in Brazil, was in fantastic form last term, scoring 12 goals and assisting nine in Serie A.

Liverpool have been keeping tabs on the 27-year-old as they look to bolster their attack for next season's Champions League campaign, and are likely to make a move as they struggle to sign Southampton's Adam Lallana.

Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have also expressed an interest in Candreva's services.

The winger's impressive display in Italy's 2-1 win over England on Saturday has made it even more unlikely that he'll play for Lazio next season.

Reports linking Manchester City defender Micah Richards with a summer move to Liverpool are off target, sources have told ESPN FC.

Richards, 25 - who has been with City since the age of 14 - is set to move on in search of regular first-team football.

He made only two appearances in the Premier League last season, with manager Manuel Pellegrini preferring Pablo Zabaleta at right-back, and his chances are set to be further restricted by the arrival of Bacary Sagna from Arsenal.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, whose defence conceded 50 goals as the Reds finished second in the Premier League, is continuing to pursue a deal for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno, which remains some way from being agreed.

The manager is also keen on signing Southampton and England midfielder Adam Lallana, and will attempt to make further progress on that move in the coming weeks.

So far this summer, Liverpool have signed forward Rickie Lambert from Southampton for four million pounds, and have agreed a deal in principle to bring German midfielder Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen.
