Been following him for ages, he's Mignolet mark two. I think he's a free agent now.

Southampton executive director Les Reed hopes Adam Lallana will commit to the club now Ronald Koeman has been confirmed as their new manager.

Koeman took over at St Mary's on Monday following Mauricio Pochettino's departure to Tottenham and the Dutchman is already aware several of his star players are seeking moves to bigger clubs.

Along with defender Dejan Lovren, Lallana has been subject to reported interest from Liverpool but Reed has urged the England international to stay at Southampton.

"Lallana's been here long enough, we've brought him to this level and we feel that perhaps he should give it a little bit longer," Reed told BBC South Today.

"Anybody seriously considering coming for our players are going to have to think very significantly about the size of the fee.

"If we do take money it will be because it's the right amount and it enables us to improve the team and move forward."

Koeman and brother Erwin, who was announced as his assistant, must work quickly to resolve the future of their key players and it is understood Ronald will take English lessons ahead of the club's pre-season campaign.

Liverpool have opened preliminary talks with Bayern Munich over a proposed £16m deal for Xherdan Shaqiri.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is growing impatient over Southampton's reluctance to bend on a deal for Adam Lallana, with sporting director Les Reed saying the England international should stay 'a little longer' at St Mary's.

Liverpool have checked on Lazar Markovic too at Benfica but Swiss international Shaqiri offers better market value.

The 22-year-old had been earmarked to replace Franck Ribery at Bayern but has grown impatient at his lack of playing time and is keen to move to Anfield.

Shaqiri would be a quality addition to the midfield, especially for £16m. Get it done BR!

Forget Lallana just get Shaqiri in. We should try to conclude our transfer business early because late in the game, more clubs will be chasing after some of these players that we had our eyes on once they missed out on some of their own targets

I wasn't impressed by Shaqiri at all the other day when he played for Switzerland, Infact out of the 4 attackers we've been linked with (Sanchez, Markovic, Lallana, Shaqiri) he's the worst IMO.
Markovic is way better than him but it looks like we are penny pinching again.
Shaqiri is all hype.

Don't know why everyone is creaming their pants over the Mexican keeper. Maybe I need to watch it again BUT on first viewing it seemed to me that most of those "fantastic" saves were made because the ball was hit straight at him !

Woof he's a camera goalie, bit like the pile of ***** we have at the moment. He's a nothing keeper who throws himself at everything exactly like mignolet.

As for shaquiri, he's another one who doesn't impress at all. No way is he better than what we have.

I agree. Also he did not look that big and in the prem you need a big commanding keeper that can pick of crosses while he is being manhandled by the opposing players and he did not look like that type.

Actually the Chilean goalie looks much better. Big, strong and with good feet.

Like I said, Ochoa is Mignolet mark 2. Good keeper but we need something different and better.

Good shout by kazza, Bravo is definitely the kind of keeper we should be looking at. I've been really impressed by him these last two seasons.

Begovic plays for stoke.

He's one of the top five keepers in the world.

Why are we even looking at anyone else when answer lives 60 miles down the road, is at a smaller club and is on less money (than we could offer) with no European football... I really cant understand it for the life of me. If we miss out on him we will regret it, he will move to a big club this summer without doubt.

Liverpool will make a third attempt to land England midfielder Adam Lallana following the World Cup in Brazil.

The Reds' improved offer of £25million was rejected by Southampton prior to the tournament with the South Coast outfit having initially snubbed a £20million bid.

Saints want £30million and with Liverpool reluctant to go that high that has led to increased speculation they could abandon their pursuit of the 26-year-old and turn their attention to other targets.

Bayern Munich's Xherdan Shaqiri and Benfica's Lazar Markovic, who were both heavily scouted last season, have been identified as suitable alternatives but manager Brendan Rodgers isn't ready to admit defeat in his pursuit of Lallana.

Once Lallana's international commitments with England are complete and the World Cup is over, Liverpool will look to resume negotiations with Southampton in the knowledge that the player is desperate to make the move to Anfield.

The Reds have already signed his Saints clubmate Rickie Lambert for £4million and are also keen on their Croatian centre-back Dejan Lovren.

Southampton executive director Les Reed has urged Lallana to remain at St Mary's following the appointment of Ronald Koeman as the club's new boss but the Dutchman faces a challenge convincing him to stay put.

"Lallana's been here long enough, we've brought him to this level and we feel that perhaps he should give it a little bit longer," Reed said.

"Anybody seriously considering coming for our players are going to have to think very significantly about the size of the fee.

"If we do take money it will be because it's the right amount and it enables us to improve the team and move forward.

"I hope the (managerial) announcement will ***** up a few ears and they will think that's a good, positive move from the club. If players leave, it will be because we believe it is right for the club."

MANCHESTER UNITED, Liverpool and Arsenal have been handed a MAJOR boost in their pursuit of Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez after claims that the Chilean favours a move to the Premier League.

According to reports in Chile - Sanchez has grown disillusioned with life at the Nou Camp, and is destined for a move to England.

Contrary to suggestions that the player will make a move to Serie A champions Juventus.

Sanchez has received high accolade from fans, players and pundits for his virtuoso performances in the World Cup, typified in last night's 2-0 victory over reigning champions Spain.

From a personal perspective the forward has enjoyed a productive season with the Catalan giants.

He has netted 19 La Liga goals with 10 assists to boot in spite of playing a secondary role to Lionel Messi.

However a frosty relationship with the Catalan supremo, Messi, may be the catalyst for the 25-year-old to leave Spain.

And despite his impressive record and continued development, new boss Luis Enrique appears to have sided with his diminutive Argentinian.

Messi has been accused of not celebrating Sanchez's goals on more than one occasion and has resulted in the player calling for his agents to arrange a move this summer.
