iverpool have reportedly increased their offer for Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka to £16million.

The Anfield side were prepared to pay £14.8million for Konoplyanka and now reports in Ukraine claim they are willing to up that bid.

Tottenham are not now believed to be in the running for the Ukrainian international, but it is understood an unnamed Bundesliga side are interested.

Dnipro's multi-billionaire owner Ihor Kolomoyskyi is reluctant to sell Konoplyanka, but could do business because the wideman's contract expires in June 2015.

Liverpool MD Ian Ayre has flown to Ukraine to try and seal the deal and the Reds are said to be willing to more than double Konoplyanka's wages to £60,000-a-week.

Konoplyanka is keen to leave Dnipro and says he is excited by Liverpool's interest.

"LFC?," he said. I"m so excited about it and soon you will know where I will play.

"It's all very serious. I'm shocked myself. It will all be clear very soon."

Did we really bid on him back in November outside of the transfer window?

Methinks not.

Maybe declared interest, but no bid.

No one is certain, but you can always have the deal arranged much earlier, and the player to join when the window opens.

I'm not too sure about this Ukraine guy BTW. Oleg Luzhicy(sp), the former Arsenal defender called him a headless chicken as he doesn't run back enough. TBH, I see his point as when I watched France beat Ukraine, he was very poor. Oleg goes on to say that the Italian or Spanish league is more suited to him as it doesn't require that much running and tracking back.

It's funny how his own countryman (Ex Ar$e) is putting a dampner on it, wonder if it is anything to do with the Ar$e feeling a little worried about us strengthening.........(Wenger probably told him to say it)

Anyway, I have a feeling that if business is done this window, we'll actually bring in 3 players, just a hunch.

Why would Ayre be in Spain for M'Vila? He plays in Rubin Kazan.

Would be great if we can sign someone like M'Vila though. Exactly the type of player we need.

From what I've seen this is actually not too far from the truth, which is why I prefer Yarmolenko. To call him a headless chicken though is a bit of an exaggeration. Moses is a headless chicken. Konoplyanka is a very skillful player but who can be frustrating at times. I think we should still go for him.

OK guys some potentially good news. Spoke to a guy who gets some good info from time to time. Has told me we are in pole position for Konoplyanka. Manu and Spurs have been monitoring him to but more tentative interest and they both have other priorities (Kroos to Manu looks a go'er). It is his club Dnipro, who are trying to stir up an auction for him and it has meant we are paying a little more but we are the only ones with a real firm interest. I expect him to be our player by the end of tomorrow barring some absolute disaster

Interesting you wrote that ,watchin the England-Ukraine highlights on the web i thought pretty much the same...He has pace ,beat Walker a couple of times but other then running to the line and crossing to the box not much more...didn't see him cutting to middle ,didn't see any smart plays or passes....again just a few minutes impression from a single source but Yes not sure deserve the hype this past hours...

And that brings me to the previous posts of mine...Bring us a DM!!!!
