Finding the net when you're having a game were you couldn't trap a bag of cement is the mark of a quality striker.....And Daniel Sturridge is a top
player ,OK maybe he has the odd game where he has a complete Stanley ,but his ability as with Stanley Victor Collymore is without question.

Dalglish wasn't an out an out striker.

Owen broke through at 17, Fowler 18, Rush made alot of sub appearances before he broke into the side properly and Torres needed find his feet in another league.

Argued with it. :D

I'd say Stan was slightly better alround.

I wouldn't call him a top player, mind you, thats already been established we disagree on what top players are :D

You say Lucas and Sturridge... I say Suarez and Alonso... :D

To be honest, you would have had a much better point had you just included Sturridge's goal record rather than a comparison with other strikers as all circumstances vary greatly.

Sturridges goals so far are making our start to the season look respectable.

Hopefully he will continue in the same scoring vein for the rest of the season

owen and fowlers best years were their early years in the side, rush didnt make a lot of sub appearances he just had a slow start to his career here (paisley told him he`d put him on the transfer list to try and fire him up) and not sure what you mean about torres.

Sturridge was quite poor against Newcastle... despite the goal... he wasn't involved in most of the build up plays, only Suarez and Moses were involved. These 3 players need to work on their understanding with each other... both Suarez and Sturridge are very individualistic and because of that would make poor decisions. Moses is good technically but he lacks the vision of Coutinho... Alot of times he couldn't find either Sturridge or  Suarez who is wide open and would opt to pass to someone only within his sight...

It took him (Suarez) 49 appearances in all competions to reach 20 goals

Goals 19, 20 and 21 came in his hatrick against Norwich in April 2012.

As I said earlier the stat is meaningless if you compare it to other forwards as the circumstances for each player vary greatly.

Also on second thoughs, I don't think your figures add up.

Sturridge hasn't yet scored 20 goals for Liverpool thinking about it (think its seventeen or sixteen without checking).

Stu - I know your not a massive fan of Sturridge but he played a fantastic ball through to Suarez which resulted in a penalty and a goal and he scored. The team scored two goals and he was heavily involved in both of them. Chelsea and Man City failed to get a lot out of him. That is not the case with ourselves. Are you just being a tad unreasonable which I fully appreciate would be completely out of character
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years

He has scored 17 League goals 1 FA Cup and 2 CC goals.

The stats show that he is becoming a very good goalscoring striker but they don't also show the assists he makes and the hard work he is putting in , the chasing down , the problems he causes oppositions.

He is becoming one of our best players. We are riding high in the league because of his goals
