I read somewhere that Napoli may offer around 15m  :oh: . I really doubt that but we definitely shouldn't settle for anything bellow 10m. A big NO for loaning him. Loaning Coates would be smarter.

If we can get the Greek we'd be finally signing a good quality player.

As for Coates, I think it would be best if we loaned him somewhere, preferably to an English club.

And about this Paraguayan left-back we're getting. It seams that there will be an option to buy him at the end of the season for 10m. That's a ridiculous amount for a castaway. But we'll worry about that when the time comes. Maybe he'll be worth it who knows.

Well, that's what happens when you put a player on the bech for a season. I said it then and it is my opinion:

Why making Skrtel lose his value like a rock and instead play a player that is going to retire, no future value whatsoever for the club.
So we gained maybe a 5% increase of performance, but for what???
Losing lots of value on Skrtel, alienate one of our few cb left after the season. ****poor handling of the situation, imo.
How much impact would it have on our season? NONE, that's what.

Hence, waiting for all the sentimental drivel as to why Carra had to play...

i agree but I am hopeful that the club will see sense and not sell him to a CL qualification rival. No good can come of that deal.

I would like to think he commits to one more season, with a commitment from the club to consider selling him next season.

The Echo are reporting that it is a £7M deal. I agree that loan makes no sense and £7M is too low, consider he was linked with a £25M move to City not so long ago.

I think 7mil is a reasonable price for a slightly better than average defender, but given Skrtel is still in his 20s with a wealth of European and Premier league experience he's probably worth a bit more.  When Man City were being linked with him last summer for 20mil I said at the time the fee was ridiculous and we should take it and run.  I still think we could get around 10-12 mil for him in today's market though and I'd certainly be demanding more from Napoli considering they have 55 mil from selling Cavani and weren't afraid to pay 35 mil for Higuain.

Liverpool 'ready to ratify' Kyriakos Papadopoulos deal

LIVERPOOL appear on the verge of signing Greek defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos

Greek newspaper Sport Day are reporting that Liverpool could be set to announce the move when they arrive back from their pre-season trip to Thailand.

Papadopoulos has reportedly advised Liverpool that he is now sufficiently fit to undergo a medical and hopes to travel to England for that purpose on August 10.

Liverpool medics are thought to be particularly keen to ensure there are no lasting effects from the injury before finalising a deal and reports suggest that Papadopoulos will by subject to an especially strenuous medical.
The 21-year-old Greek international played only ten times for Schalke in the Bundesliga last season.

As a tough, uncompromising defender who is strong in the air, Papadopoulos is regarded as the perfect replacement for the retiring Jamie Carragher but the player's arrival could also be a boon for the club with Martin Skrtel linked to Napoli and rumours of Barcelona's interest in Daniel Agger also refusing to go away.

That's a lot of money for them to spend on quality players - it could end up strengthening them.

Bale + Suarez would surely strengthen any team would it not?

Bale was everything to Spurs last year and he got them out of a lot of trouble. You sell a guaranteed match winner and buy players that may or may not succeed in the prem and they have a foreign coach without that much PL experience. If I were Spurs I would rather have Bale than the money. They may be weaker next year despite all that money. Spurs selling Bale is good for us.

Depends tbh. If they get Soldado then that will make them alot stronger upfront Adebayor was woeful last year. He is reportedly going to cost around 26m?

They still have the best part of 60 million left. Knowing Spurs they will sign Eriksen and Papa along with anyone else we are linked with
