One league title on goal difference and one FA Cup isn't overly impressive. Considering what they have spent they were a very average team for a lot of last season. I know what you are saying but it is a very sad way to go. Rich boys in the Candy Store don't do it for me.

Considering where they were 10 years ago their rise has been impressive, and they have a team that really can compete in all competitions.
Yes its sad the way money dominates football, but in some ways it always have. The big clubs always take the best players from smaller clubs. Sadly we as fans have let the clubs drive the sport in this direction where money is the most important element for success. Somehow I dont think we will complain too much if we get back to the top and can do the same to other clubs again.

Money rules football - has been like that since the start of the prem - as soon The Russian arrived the importance of money increased through the roof.

Both City and Chelsea are proof of what money can buy - same with clubs like PSG , Monaco. The money allows the club to buy the quality players.

Whilst we scratch around spending £6-8mil per players teams like City spend close to a £100mil and bring in 4 top quality players

Maybe they'll offer Suarez vice captaincy. It could do wonders for his temperament and also persuade him to stay one more season

After the way he has shown a lack of respect the last thing he will/ should go near is the captaincy ! He gets paid a lot of bloody money as it is to play for us - after the way he has acted this summer he should be looking for our forgiveness not us looking to get on our knees for him

Spot on. But you have no idea how many deluded fans that are out there with this insane hero worship.
Suarez is one of us.
Suarez will always love the club
Suarez scoring goals for us means he loves it here.
Blah, blah, blah
Since he was so flattered being linked with Arsenal says to me he will do anything to just move one small peg up the order.
But fans just loves those rose tinted glasses...  :no

Developing an affinity for a club and it's players no matter how deluded your passion may be is what imo makes you a supporter. Without it why bother even following a particular club ? you may as well say I like football and dispassionately watch any team, perhaps enjoying the spectacle without the rose tinted glasses but with little emotion.

I support Liverpool FC, not Suarez FC, Torres FC or whatever. Players comes and goes, club always remains.
Only players that deserves hero worship from fans are players that match their words with their actions, instead of going by sheer hope, and nothing more.
Suarez deserves nothing of the kind and should not be remembered as some LFC great after he leaves.

Suarez is still a Liverpool player and I would hope he gets our full support when he returns to the football field with a Liverpool shirt on...

Every player gets supported when they pull in a Liverpool shirt.

But he won't be respected as a person.

when exactly is he due to meet up?
various news outlets reporting that its in the next 48 hrs but no confirmed date. i assume we leave for oz in the morning so probably wont have another training session till monday.
rumours are rife that arsenal are going to bid the £40mil and if they do then the only thing that will turn up is his agent with a transfer request. he has said some ***** in the last interview about joining up with the team and how that could change with a phonecall  :glare:
one thing is for sure that at least this situation will come to a head one way or another before tuesday and we can move on with or without him.

At least he has made his feelings known for the most part.  We hated Torres because he blind-sided us.  Suarez has been pretty clear from the beginning of transfer season that he wants out.  Has he talked too much? yes, but at least we are fully aware of his intentions and can prepare for life without him now instead of 3 days before the window closes.

Coates in tow, as usual.

Obsessed Arsenal fans who've decided to like Suarez now probably think Coates is Suarez's body guard at this point.

The Daily Mirror states Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is set for crunch talks with manager Brendan Rodgers, and is set to reveal his desire to move to Arsenal. Suarez will join his Reds team-mates in Melbourne on Sunday and has reportedly made up his mind about his future.

Similarly, the Daily Mail claims Suarez is keen on joining Arsene Wenger at the Emirates, but Liverpool placing a £50 million price tag on the Uruguayan could scupper the deal. On Thursday evening, Wenger was given the all clear to place a £50 million bid for Suarez, creating some uncertainty over the potential transfer.

However, The Sun reports Real Madrid may have beaten the Gunners to the punch. It is said the La Liga giants have tabled an offer of £20 million cash plus wantaway striker Gonzalo Higuain in exchange for Suarez. Wenger has been chasing both Higuian and Suarez, and would miss out on both if the deal is sanctioned by the Reds over the weekend. Indeed, an agreement was believed to have been reached with Higuain some three weeks ago, creating frustration among the club's supporters.
