It makes perfect sense for arsenal to be going after suarez as their looking to bolster their own league standing while weakening a side with a good shout of getting into the cl ahead of them. With that in mind there`s not a chance I would sell to them, Real will know the position we are in so I`m not surprised their bidding lower.
We should make it clear we will not sell to another prem side and if anyone else wants him it`s 40m take it or leave it. As things stand we would be better off with him in the ressies than have him playing at arsenal as there the team we are looking to get ahead of. We cant be a feeder club for the cl sides or nothing will ever change.

We wont close the options off like that - even if we have no intention of selling to Arsenal - its good to have them bidding which will force other teams to bid.

And if we dont want to be a feeder club for the CL we need to find a way to persuade players to either stay or arrive - wages helps with that

I'm not sure they would be bothered tbh - they have made plenty of choices that the fans werent happy with. If Arsenal bid the correct amount and Suarez accepts their terms then he will go

As far as I`m concerned our chances of a cl finish go from slim to absolute zero if we sell to arsenal, regardless of how we spend the money. We cant give them the best player in the league and expect to get ahead of them.

I understand and pretty much agree with the sentiment considering Arsenal are one of our closest rivals in getting 4th. The b@stards in Madrid hold the cards really, they know Liverpool will have a reluctance to sell to another British club, they also have two weeks up their sleeve on us to make a decision and they will do this to ensure they both get their man and screw us over. Reasoning this,  :D I'd probably cut my nose off to spite my face in this instance and sell Suarez to Arsenal for as much as we can get - it will make it harder for us but I don't believe for one minute Arsenal will achieve much more than us with or without Suarez in their side, they have a few problem areas too that need addressing.

If Arsenal don't get Suarez they will get someone of the same stature - they are the last of the top 5 to start spending but they are showing intent. The gap to the top 5 will grow this I believe.

exactly, there`s no chance we will sell him to them, the echo said as much as well.
it would go down like a lead balloon if he went there and the club know it.

Its obviously not just one reason as he keeps coming up with different ones for his wanting to leave almost on a daily basis
I think the reasons are in this order:
1. British Media treatment
2. FA treatment
3. Opposing fans treatment
4. Our finishing position
5. CL football
6. Wanting to go to Fail Madrid
7. More money

Are you saying that you would be happy to keep an unhappy player for the sake of £5 million or £10 million rather than negotiate with a buying club so that we can the funds in to strengthen the team? As for replacements I've already stated about the players we have. Coutinho is equally if not more effective in the role behind the main striker because he's less selfish and more creative.

We've bought Aspas and Alberto this summer. If Asapas gets into double figures in the premiership, Borini may chip in with a few more and Sturridge gets at least 20 in the premiership I'm not sure that we need another striker. We have Ibe and Sterling coming through. If Downing stays he could continue to improve and chip in with a few more. I could see someone like Eriksen coming in to give us more depth and goals from midfield and possibly at least one defender.

I'm not sure what players you have in mind in terms of replacements of Suarez's quality, who would join us at the moment.  Unlike when Torres left I see the money spent from a Suarez sale as on improving the group as the manager has stated rather than on the quality of another Suarez.

what's that to negotiate? there is a contract that stipulate the trigger point for Suarez to move to another club will be 40M, and selling to another English club will need to be smart and demand well over 45M or he can bugger off elsewhere. The moment we are willing to accept other clubs lowballing us, then everyone will know we have soft balls and when will it ends? this is precisely the time our CEO earn his money...by not blinking and being smart on the negotiating table.

When you have been out there in the cut throat business world, you'll understand what I mean, until then stop making silly suggestions.

And to think that Aspas, Ibe, Alberto, Borini, Downing, Coutinho and Sturridge can lead us to Champions League??? LOL and you are saying this without seeing half of those in action...you need to change your medication, soon!

It's funny because you seem to understand every other club's transfer policy better than your own. You state Arsenal are showing intent - Arsenal? A side not renowned for showing that much intent, yet when Liverpool are rumoured in the same vein you say "take it with a pinch of salt".

I think the first three can be moved right down the line or removed alltogether when he is talking about being flattered to be linked to teams like Arsenal and Chelsea - if City offered the right fee and wages he would be there in an instant.

The media are just as bad in Spain - and he can't blame the FA as he has made that bed himself and opposition fans ?! Is he that precious to be effected by them ? Well again that won't change where he goes. Suarez is showing himself to be the person he really is and the evidence was there in his previous clubs.

It's down to where we are as a club and wanting more in terms of playing at the highest level for the biggest club in the world - if that doesn't happen then its the next club he can find that can offer him CL footy.

I don't think any release figure has been confirmed or denied yet by either the club or the player. If there is there hasn't been any indication of a difference between where the club comes from - prem or la Liga.

One point from your post does worry me though - the point about the CEO earning his money - we are fecked then.

If Suarez was a saint I think clubs would queue up to spend £50mil - but because he isn't £10mil I think is knocked of the price.

And I believe you are right about those players - they want fire us to the CL

Stop diving, start growing some balls, stop arguing with the referees, stop being a racist and stop biting opposition then half of his problems will be gone. Knuckle down and play football and you'll get paid handsomely...but you need to be greedy and not showing any loyalty to those who backed you and supported you when you're about to get your balls hung.
