Actually, ligament damage is rarely resolved with a cast. If anything Sturridge will be in a cast for 2-3 weeks but typically lots of ice and compression combined with joint manipulation is required to resolve ligament damage. Been there done that.

My OH was in a cast for ankle ligament damage for 2 months once the swelling went down to immobilise the ankle

On the verge of returning to full training apparently. Also read this yesterday...

Karl ‏@Karlton81 -  Just so you know the kind of dedication Sturridge has been giving to getting back fit, he was doing treble sessions of his rehabilitation. Sturridge feels as though he's finally found his home, with the love he received from the club & fans.

The cast would not have been to reduce swelling, it would have been to immobilise - to heal the tear. A cast is only applied to grade 3 ankle ligament damage, like I said "rarely".

Grade 1 and 2 ankle ligament damage is not treated with a cast. Grade 2 often use a removable air splint to apply temporary immobilisation between treatments, but the standard way of treat both grade 1 and 2 ankle ligament damage is reduce swelling using ice and compression or contrast bathing (switching between hot and cold treatments). Once swelling is reduced regular physical therapy (stretching and strengthening) is used for recovery.

I have had both grade 1 and 2 injuries over my playing time. Fortunately never a grade 3.

Step forward Studge, time to lead the line. We'll still need another striker but our results without Suarez aren't as bad as they seem, admittedly its quite a smaller proportion but still. Clutching straws

I actually think he could lead the line well, and will be one of our star men this year. Hopefully we buy him good support when Suarez leaves and push hard for 4th so the same ***** doesn't happen again next year.

Just worried about his injury record - seems to pick up knocks

Also needs to get his head up at times but certainly done well since arriving

He was in for fu 2nd half, played well, we looked far more dangerous when he was on. Coutinho and him linked up brilliantly at times. Great 45 from him in fairness

Daniel is becoming one of our key players now.

Will be interesting to see how he plays when everyone's "favorite cannibal" is back in late September.
