i dont need to read a wiki article i know what went on, paisley told rush he was putting him on the transfer list but didnt actually put him on.
it was designed as a kick up the @rse for rushie.
you can bet your bottom dollar that if rush`s form didnt improve he would have went on the transfer list.
anyway we are going round in circles here, you obviously dont like downing and i (and more importantly brendan rodgers) think he`s doing a steady job, lets just leave it at that.

Typical of a commie - the old 'do as I say not as I do' Orwellian type motto, no wonder you had a hard on for Scargill.

You just told another poster that he shouldn't be comparing players to our past but your allowed too?

89 games for LFC with 7 goals in return.

How dare anyone criticise this highly experienced run of the meal premiership player.

Try and actually take the time to read what people post - that might help you a great deal and you will see there has been no "reverse"

An example of it is you asking Red Yakka about you not linking BR when nothing in his post suggested it ?

The problem I have with you is that you are incapable of appreciating what you imply even when the evidence is there for all to see.  Being an extremely patronising bore is of course your other KEY speciality.....

For me Downing has done better this season - but there is still nowhere near enough end product for a wide attacking player for LFC.

Yes he might provide decent-ish cover for Johnson but to be honest I want alot more.
Comparisons with Suso in that position are a little unfair to say the least, this is a a young kid playing his first season in top flight football with another kid behind him.
Downings goal return is extremley poor and if you take away europa league in which we played against some pretty mediocre opposition his assist tally isnt great either.

Like a few have said compare it with Coutinho who has come in and already scored 2 and made about 4 or 5.
I'd possibly keep Downing on the bench next season and agree AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME he probably has to play. But next season its definitely one of the positions that we need far more quality in if we want to start moving further up the league and beating the top sides more regulaly.

Having said i would keep him if an offer came in for anything around 10 million hands would be bitten off taking it.

i dont know why you are mentioning politics but seems you did let me educate you, if you didnt live on the other side of the planet you`d know that the city of liverpool is a tory free zone, never mind an MP, the tories havent even had a single local councillor elected in near 20 years here and this city has some very affluet suburbs.
even the richest of the free market capitalists who live here cant bring themselves to vote tory after what they did to this city.
now if you really do support this club try having some respect for the people of this city and the culture of the club, because wether you like it or not the vast majority of local supporters cant stand the tories and especially margret thatcher.
you may think i`m anti thatcher but by liverpool standards i`m f##king mild, when she died i was uncomfortable with people celebrating her death, i thought that song was in bad taste and i even made a point of not going in the thatcher thread the day she was buried because it didnt seem right criticising someone on the day they are buried.
when i mentioned in my local that i didnt agree with that witch is dead song the whole boozer looked at me as if i was a martian, one or two even got a bit angry about it.
this city was kicked to f##k by the tories in the 70`s and 80`s, then the media weighed in saying this place was a sh1.thole full of thieves etc (where do you think the united fans got their `bin dippers` from? or the `sign on with hope in your heart`?) and then there was hillsborough were the vast majority of the country either believed the lies or wanted to believe the lies.
now if your not happy supporting a club based in a tory free city, with local supporters who are left wing politically then go and support someone with a political view more to the right like chelsea.
thats the last i`m going to say on the matter, i come in here to talk footy, not politics with right wingers who dont even live in the country.

You didn't mind using politics and sniping away at you new found best mate Benny when you disagreed with him on football matters. I'm actually well aware that the city of Liverpool is a Labour stronghold and has been for years and I'll have you know I'm not a Tory fan either, mind you I'm not Labour, both IMHO are as bad and at times as despicable as each other. At the same time I'm not into the complete re-writing of history when the baying mob and their pitch forks demand blood - I see nothing wrong with impartiality. I do not care one iota whether my politics perfectly align with the City of Liverpool's, I know this won't go down to well with Scousers as they're rather militant in their views and anyone with a divergent view point is usually shot down in flames; so it would be dishonest and untrue to myself to merely say I believe in every political aspect as you and most other scousers do, to merely fit in. I have no qualms with your politics per sa and you're free to believe in what you do. I just don't hold people like Scargill in high esteem like you do and as I said I do not like to see the complete re-writing of history. That Yakka, isn't "educating" me but thanks for trying, it's more than my teachers ever did at school.

So please, for the last time DO NOT tell me who to support because of my  political centrist views, you have absolutely no right whatsoever but this is pretty typical (as I said) of the marxist nature of the left.

It's like 1984 around here sometimes with you. And I'm more of a free thinker and make NO apologies about it.

Whilst we're speculating on transfers, thought I'd remind you I hate Downing and he has to go this summer.

Maybe RM will offer 50 million, I guess Bayern are still celebrating the CL victory and Monaco are counting their change...

Nah, he's a good player mate, he's earned the right to be here next year, he'll get us top 4. *cough cough cough*

If fail Madrid come in for him, my real worry is that they will demand Suarez as part of the deal too. Otherwise it's a no-go

Can't we put a Goofy mask on him and pack him to RM under the name Suarez?

Why would we even consider selling him. Even if (and thats a long shot) we get a 7-8 mill offer for him. Would it make us any better ? He is still the best winger at the side. His form improved as he started settling in and adjusting to our style of play. And for the money we'd get for him, we won't be able to significantly improve on the production he offers.

He might not be good enough for a starting berth, but he makes the perfect squad player imo.

Something isn't right when I'm agreeing with Ace so much

If you can sell Downing and get a replacement ( of better standard ) without us losing a penny then you sell - but that's a very slim chance.

Downing provides a squad option

i agree with the last 2 posters, if we bring someone like luis muriel in then fine, sell him, but while we are throwing the dice on spanish second division players i`d keep him here.
