Downing doesn't have the right to say the truth? The whole team was at fault for the 1st half not only downing! And he wasn't blaming anyone. He is accepting the shortcomings as s collective. Last time i checked the word "we" includes the person saying it as well. The manager was at fault too for picking the team and strategy. In fact from what I saw downing played better than alot of our midfield players.

I'm not arguing about downing's shortcomings as a player...but to be up in arms about this article is abit ridiculous...

Evra's cross actually megged Downing for RVP's first goal. I can't believe he didn't get a foot on that.

My local pub put in a bid but he turned it down, he's insisting on an umbrella in his post match drink and it's beyond their budget  :(

Its a cop out whether you like it or not
Why the fu'ck did he have to pipe up? Why didnt he say "no comment" or if he was to say something, say "I felt I didnt play particularly well today, I know we all didnt but I was disappointed with my own contribution"
He could have taken some individual responsibility but he wont because hes a sh'ithouse and placates people like your good self by using the collective as the excuse for his own shortcomings. I have no time for shirkers or bullshitters. Of course he has a right to say the truth, but I have the right to say hes an ar'sehole

Read the link, thats the kind of player and guts we need. The account of the game at the bottom is superb.

Great read that Reg. Reminds us (if we needed it) of what a warrior Souness was. He'd have to curb his nasty streak in todays non contact version of the game but oh how we could do with another like him.

Seems an odd time to stick the boot into Downing when he's actually playing well.

Isn't good enough,we know that, but we'll probably get offers for him this summer given his recent improvement and I expect he'll be off then.
