Joe Cole - is there a place for him in the starting 11

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Sounds highly unlikely he'll be kept.

Best of luck to Cole. Purslow really did shaft the club with this signing.

Gone. Dunno about the terms but he's off the wage bill
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Glad to see the back of him. Just hope we haven't had to pay a shed load in compensation. Why did we let him go on a free? There is 18 months left on his contract. Surely somebody would have coughed up fifty quid to buy a bottle of Champagne to crack over his car as he was leaving!

Rumoured that we have given him £3m in compensation. That means Cole has received wages of over £20m in 3.5 years. Ok I know we got a few quid back from loan deals but can anybody honestly tell me of a worse way to get rid of twenty million quid. Fk we have made some awful mistakes in the last 5/6 years.

Our own fault this offering such a lucrative contract but I think those days
are gone now.

Its easy to call these guys greedy but if you are offered £90k a week over 5 years
then you set your stall out and make plans and commitments based on those terms
and that money is theirs at the end of the day.

I am certain he will still be getting paid that but cheaper for us long term and the
middle ground solution for both parties.

I realise Cole played for a short time in France but I get the impression he is local
boy at heart and London is the only place he can actually play football and feel
settled with his family, his move north was out of desperation really and a mistake
for him and the football club.

Blame the people who gave him the deal. He didn't FORCE us to sign him....in fact, from what i recall, he turned down Spurs to come here.

it's the club at the end of it all....no one is going to walk away from millions they're owned from their employer.  If Cole had wanted, he could have stayed and sat out his deal to earn double.

Then he would be twice as greedy
What makes me laugh is people justifying it as if its ok to take millions for doing nothing.
Its not as if he needs it

it's not justifying it, but adding perspective. Yes it's wrong, but it's the modern game. Look at Wesley Sneijder, he wont budge from Inter unless someone matches his 250k a week  :help

Its fu'cked up
Theres no other way of describing them except as greedy cu'nts. These are multi millionaires who should be ashamed of themselves for the way they are behaving.
How much money do you need for fu'cks sake!!??

Its f*ck@ing obscene I agree with that and frankly the whole show is on the wage front.

You have to put it to the back of your mind when these boys run out really for fear of
tainting the spectacle on some level, and Cole knows hes not worth 25% of what we paid
him so he was never moving anywhere without a sweetner.
