If it doesn't have a big head then it's worthless to this thread or any thread !

Can't wait for the transfer window to close. constant speculation does my head in. Just sign Allen and Dempsey and get done with it, for gods' sake.

I never get the whole i wish the window was closed. I love the whole "who will we get" thing. Its exciting, chucks up some good banter and topics. How boring would the summer be if the day the window opened we signed all 3 players then said thats it?

i think the duration of the transfer window is a disaster.2 weeks is all it should be and that way you know who's in and who's out.you dont end up getting into bidding wars by clubs dragging it out to interest more parties.it should be done and dusted before the players return to preseason.
id much prefer if we got our targets early and started integrating them into the team during this period so we have a better chance of hitting the ground running when the campaign starts.

There'd be a lot more Andy Carroll type transfer fees if that were the case.  Some clubs would get screwed and some would really benefit.  A 2 week transfer period would make it easy for big clubs like the manchester clubs to get players cheap.  They get the players they want to get excited about the move, and they keep their price low.  Then the clubs are desperate to sell them because they don't want unhappy players.

Then clubs do business like us, and we don't try to get the player to turn on their club.  Then the club has the power and keeps the prices high, we end up paying too much.

The reason why the likes of Spurs are now taking the mikey out of us is because our owners and management are allowing this to happen.

By being skin flint on our transfer dealings, as what was apparent in the Sigurdsson debarcle we have exposed a key weakness in our strategy which is rightly being exploited by our rivals.

I was gobsmacked that we lost out because we couldn't pay the kid an extra 10-15k a week, f**king gobsmacked...........

To add to this we are allowing Newcastle and now f**king West Ham to take the p**s with this whole Carroll charade, its obvious we are trying to sell him off but don't want to sell him on the cheap. Fair enough, but we do need to cut our losses at some point and maybe holding out for 20 million is not the brightest idea as no club would pay that amount for him at the moment. I think most of us would be happy unloading him for 15m and bringing in a quality signing for 20-25m that we can geniuely be excited over, and not this Borini s**t that Rodgers insulted us by saying we would be "excited over".

If we were to end up signing Allen and Dempsey without improving our wings and forward line we are truly up s**t creek no matter how much Rodgers and the owners sugar coat that fact that we are still "competitive" against the other top 5 clubs.

I agree with you about the owners eds, though I'm optimistic about Rodgers

£20m-rated Liverpool target Ramirez 'in talks with Premier League club'

Uruguayan Olympian Gaston Ramirez is moving closer to a move to Liverpool after his agent admitted he was in talks with a Premier League club.

New Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his attacking options and the 21-year-old - who scored a sublime free-kick as Uruguay beat the United Arab Emirates 2-1 on Thursday - fits the bill perfectly.

Ramirez, who is rated at £20million by his club Bologna, has enjoyed two successful seasons in Serie A after leaving Penarol in his homeland in 2010.

The playmaker has no shortage of admirers - with Barcelona, Milan, Inter, Tottenham and both Manchester clubs all monitoring his situation - but Liverpool are thought to be in pole position.

‘Gaston is ready to leave Italy - so much so I am in England for talks with a Premier League club,’ agent Pablo Betancourt told Mercato.

‘He is one of the most important players in Uruguray, so there are no shortage of offers.’

Ramirez - capable of playing on either flank or behind the main striker - is Liverpool's No 1 target after they cooled their interest in Fulham's Clint Dempsey.
