Apparently no team has come in for Alberto and he is expected at Melwood when training resumes ..

no doubt he'll fetch his sulky little italian weasel face along and fake an illness so he can sit on his £10000 sofa at home scratting his sack and playing xbox whilst LFC pays him his many pounds a week wages. If I was boss? I'd push him in the Mersey.

Every quote I have seen from Aquilani and his agent suggest he just wants to be playing football regularly somewhere so I’m not sure why he is receiving so much personal abuse. If he never wanted to come he wouldn’t have put pen to paper quite simply. If Rafa had still been in charge, would he have gone back to Italy or would he have been partnering Lucas the last two seasons? He has been loaned out 2 seasons in a row, and Comolli confirmed he took a pay cut to secure the move to Milan.

Basically he hasn't been given a chance and as far as we know the loan decisions were in both cases made by the club, not by the player or his agent. Yet people still slag him off for 'not wanting to play for us' when he hasn't said anything of the sort. Despite this he's never slagged us off, not once. Some of the comments in thread are based solely on assumptions and some of the abuse is boarding on the xenophobic and should be looked at by the mods.

I think it's just frustration at the fact that we spent and expected so much of a player who since joining the club has been overlooked by three successive managers and who no other club appears willing to purchase even at a ridiculously knock down price. That's certainly why I'm less up for seeing him given another chance and more in favour of putting the whole thing behind us by moving him on, if we possibly can -- be it to AC Milan, or the river Mersey  :D

Aquilani returning to Anfield, says agent
June 20, 2012

By ESPN staff

Midfielder Alberto Aquilani is set to return to Liverpool - because nobody wants to sign him, his agent has said.

Alberto Aquilani could yet return to Anfield

Aquilani, 27, spent last season on loan at AC Milan. He joined Liverpool from Roma in a £20 million deal in 2009, but failed to settle before being loaned to Juventus in the 2010-11 campaign.

Reports in Italy said Aquilani - under contract at Anfield until 2014 - would terminate his Liverpool deal in order to make a permanent switch to Milan in the summer.

But his agent Franco Zavaglia told Sportitalia: "Almost certainly, he will not terminate his contract with Liverpool.

"He could join them at the beginning of July to start pre-season training with the English club. At this time, there are no clubs interested in him."

There is a player in there somewhere, but I'm no longer hopeful we'll see him, even if he is back at the club. Especially if the reports are true and Cole is back and Sigurdsson joins this weekend.
"Life is not just about money. There are other things, important things that have a different kind of value. Anyone from Liverpool could tell you that."

If he doesn't want to be here we should get rid but we may need to play him preseason to put in the shop window but should not accept a loan deal only a sale. On another site someone put up a team that RH could have played had he kept Aqua instead of Poulsen.

-------------------Reina-----------------
--Johnson--Carragher--Skrtel/Agger--Konchesky-
------------Gerrard----Lucas-------------
---Meireles------Aquilani-------Cole------
-----------------Torres------------------

If you can overlook Konchesky it looks a pretty good team
