Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has conceded that Andrei Shevchenko wants to go to England.

After constant denials that the Ukrainian is on his way to Chelsea to link up with Blues president Roman Abramovich, a blockbusting deal has moved a step closer with the first revelation from the Rossoneri that their leading marksman could depart.

Berlusconi is quoted by Ansa as telling a young fan: "Do you know he [Shevchenko] wants to leave?

"He wants to go to England."

Italian press reports claim Milan will only allow the former Dynamo Kiev striker to leave if they can sign Arsenal's Thierry Henry or Barcelona star Samuel Eto'o as a replacement.

A likelier option would appear to be a San Siro return for Chelsea forward Hernan Crespo, who spent a season on loan with Milan and helped them reach the UEFA Champions League final last year, when they were defeated by Liverpool on penalties.

Shevchenko is battling to be fit in time to represent Ukraine in this summer's World Cup finals although he is fully expected to take some part in Germany.

Chelsea have promised three new signings this summer with Michael Ballack one of the players on Jose Mourinho's hit-list and due to seal his lucrative Bosman move from Bayern Munich.

After a little research I came across this quote from the man himself:

"I was just 13 when I went with a Dynamo Kyiv boys team to play in a tournament in Wales," he recalls.

"We won the tournament and I was named the best player. What made it special was that Ian Rush was there to give me a pair of football boots as my prize.

"It meant such a lot because everyone in Ukraine knew about Ian Rush, the legendary Liverpool player."

Now we all know if he comes here he will prob go to Chelsea $$$$  but makes you wonder...   Some one tell Ian Rush to give him another pair of boots if he joins us. HAHhahahha

We can dream cant we???

Would be great for Liverpool if he came, but Chelsea have the cash to get him and Liverpool I don't think could match the wages Chelsea would offer him, it's a bugger :(

Cold day in hell should he ever come here...... He may be a fantastic striker but way too expensive in terms of wages... Plus he's getting on a bit... we probably need someone younger..... Now Henry is an altogether different matter.... If he decided not to stay in Arsenal, we should pull out all the stops to bring him to Anfield!!!!!!!

Henry is 29 years of age is he not? So he isn't exactly what you would call young. Sheva is 31.

I'd love to get him. I just can't see it though. Well, not until Dudek leaves anyway!

He may go to the mancs, and van horse the other way, they will need to replace the horse and even though we have now broken into the top 3, the top players are not yet convinced we are the real deal cause of the wages chelsea can offer, and Manure is more popular abroad im afraid.
His wages alone would be astonomical to say the least.
But give Rafa another year and every kunt and his dog will want to join us.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

ROME (Reuters) - AC Milan's Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko wants to leave the Serie A club and move to England, club owner Silvio Berlusconi said on Friday.

"He wants to leave. He wants to go to England," Berlusconi, who is Italy's outgoing Prime Minister, told a group of students in front of the prime minister's office.

Imagine Blair saying "Morientes wants to go back to Spain."
