Next....

Don't really care whether he's an ex-manc or ex-whatever... We need an experienced goal scorer and he fits the bill... If it's true, it's a wise move by Kenny

Spot on!

Proven performer and for me the key thing is the potential link up with Suarez who I am convinced is going to set the EPL on fire this coming season. His old mate playing alongside him will only help.

Are you guys on drugs or something? Proven in the premiership? Is he fk.

If he couldn't do it back then he probably can't do it now.

I agree that he's not proven over here but a Suarez Forlan partnership would be hugely tempting to try out at Liverpool.

AND it would give us a shedload of options and depth

I still fear we have to have a clearout before thinking about depth tho

Benitez dropped a bollock not bringing Owen back though I appreciate it may not be popular. I doubt Dagger would have turned him down a year rolling and as a cover striker he would have done us but there you go. We got Ngog and we still got Ngog and coin now to cover but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Mancs saw it though

I´d rather have Forlan than N´gog.  Last year Van Horseface would have been a good 12 month option, this year its Forlan.

It is a little scary that we are short of a LB and CB and the rumour thread has spent the last two pages discussing a striker who (if I'm correct) hasn't even been linked with us...

IMO, we don't need both a LB and a CB. we need a LB or a CB AND a striker... Because we got option for RB, Kelly can play CB. Johnson has proven he can play LB as well.

Johnson can play there but no one currently is a shoe in for LB. And what if Johnson and Kelly are both out?

We need a LB, CB AND a striker.

I disagree that we NEED a striker. Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt, N'gog... not the best four in the league, but we've plenty of attacking midfielders and could play an effective attacking formation with only one up top if two of the first three were out injured. And there are some in the reserves who could do a job for us if we were desperate. I would prefer that we buy another striker, but if we don't I think it wouldn't be the end of the world.

In defense however, despite the quantity of players we could call on, we've a real problem with quality. So I think we NEED at least a CB, and also probably NEED a LB, but we do not NEED a striker.

Ya I'm not so sure we need a striker either.  We'll probably be playing some type of 4-4-2 because of the amount of midfielders we have, if not even a 4-5-1.  If playing a 4-4-2 and Suarez or Carroll can't play then we've got Kuyt in cover, and at the very least we have N'gog.  And if Stevie's fit we could even play him up there over N'gog.

I'd rather have a new LB (Enrique being linked again today) a CB (Dann being liked again today) and then if FSG decide we still have cash leftover, we can go after another striker.
