Liverpool were very active in the transfer window this winter and the overhaul at Anfield will continue right through the summer, with Marko Marin of Werder Bremen being touted as the next target on Kenny Dalglish hit list.

Marin has been much much sought after this season and according to the German media it is now Liverpool that have moved ahead of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United as the favourites to sign the 21 year old".

Don't know anything about this fellow. Can anyone shed info on he lad ?

Yes but the point is that we already have Aquaman, he's ours, we've just loaned him out. he is worth a hell of a lot more than £10 million and Juventus know it, they are just taking the p1ss, maybe they don't realise we are under new management. :nod

I say either they pay up or he becomes an extra option for us next season. Would be nice to have people on the bench who can actually make an impact, it's been a while since we've had that.

Probably one of the best wide players in the planet...
We'll probably have to pay big money to land him but wide players dont come much better than this guy..
Right footed, plays mostly on the left flank... Excellent dribbling, technique, close control and scores his fair share of goals from outside the box... Dont know why but he reminds me of Robben except right-footed...

Agreed,

Though isn't the most industrious of wingers, Robben has better work rate.

agree with you. it certainly looks under the new management, we're not being pushed around when it comes to selling players. imagine how much we could have gotten if we had NESV running us when we sold Mash and Alonso

Liverpool have have joined the race for precocious Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio.

The Argentina youth international, 20, has been part of the Villarreal first team for a year since breaking through from the club's youth ranks.

Musacchio is considered a key part of the club's long-term plan, but a series of outstanding La Liga performances have attracted the interest of a number of top clubs.

Liverpool, Juventus and AC Milan are the three clubs currently understood to be tracking him, but Villarreal are adamant they won't sell.

Musacchio has a contract until 2014 but reports in Spain claim that a generous offer might tempt him to leave.

It has been reported that Milan are ready to treble his wages, and Liverpool could follow suit if he becomes available.

On the Marin Mako rumours, hes a great little player but i would prefer Hazard or Turan. Would be made it if we got him though.

I hadn't heard of that Marko Marin guy but dang he looks good! Bremen are looking garbage right now and may get relegated. If they do we could easily sign both him and Per Mertsacker.

In theory yes. But it's hard to think of many top German players who are willing to leave the Bundesliga.

Be good if we are in for some of these targets that we can agree fees with clubs before the 'auction and bidding' wars start..

True, Mertsacker didn't want to leave Bremen in January, but if they were relegated he would have to leave. He's too good to play below the top level. Whether or not they are willing to leave Germany, only time will tell.

I think the prospect of playing for Liverpool and bringing back the glory days would be hard to turn down. I do however think Mertesacker and Marko are more likely to go to Munich or Dortmund, as German players are very similiar to english players when it comes to staying in thier league.

It's a good point, but Dortmund is having quite a season right now and may not look to change anything, and munich just wouldn't need them at this point, or so it seems. I dunno, maybe the thought of a German player coming to Liverpool is like an English one going to Real Madrid. It seems to be the only place English players ever go, so maybe we can persuade them to come here.

Anderlecht sensation Romelu Lukaku is still a top summer target for Liverpool and Chelsea despite their combined £100 million strike-force overhaul on transfer deadline day.

The two clubs, who go head to head at Stamford Bridge on Sunday with Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez expected to make their full debuts, both enquired about the Belgian wonderkid during the January window.

Goal.com UK understands that Liverpool and Chelsea have indicated they will continue to pursue one of the world's most coveted young players in the summer despite the respective purchases earlier this week of Torres for £50m, Andy Carroll for £35m and Suarez for £22.7m.

"What happened on deadline day does not change anything," said a source close to the Lukaku camp.

"We know which clubs are interested and Chelsea and Liverpool remain at the front of the queue.

"Both clubs are planning for the future and know that you need lots of top strikers and competition for places to win big trophies."

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham all made contact with Anderlecht in January and lead the Europe-wide chase for a striker who is valued at €30m (£25.2m) by his club.

Belgium's most successful club are resigned to losing their prized asset this summer but recognise that it will be a good time to cash in on the 17-year-old, who has a release clause in his contract in 2013.

Lukaku told Goal.com UK last month that he would love to play for any of the big clubs in the Premier League and a switch to England in the summer is "more likely" than a move to Spain or Germany, where he has been courted by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, respectively.

Insiders believe a switch could be agreed within "a few months" and completed as soon as the transfer window opens in June.

Chelsea have long been the favourites to sign boyhood Blues fan Lukaku, whose style of play has been likened to that of his hero and Stamford Bridge talisman Didier Drogba.

Ironically, it would require the departure of either Drogba or Nicolas Anelka to free up some space for Lukaku in the Chelsea forward line.

"Torres, Drogba, Anelka and Lukaku is one too many," added the source. "But Torres, Anelka and Lukaku is perfect."

It is a slightly different story at Anfield. Liverpool director of strategy Damien Comolli is a huge admirer of Lukaku and believes his height, power and pace are ideally suited to the Premier League.

At 6ft 3in, the Belgium international is similar in stature to Carroll and can only play in the centre-forward position, but Comolli has made it clear that he wants to entice the cream of young European talent to Anfield with potential re-sale value.

out of any defense and add Suarez in the mix in a front 3 and they wouldnt know whats hit them.

Do you mean they would not think about coming here?

I think there are a few German players in the in England.

Dont forget we had, Dietmar Hamann, Marcus Babel, Karl Heinz Riedle and Christian Ziege...............
