It is if we are supposed to be trying to over take them.

nope, I still don't see how that works. I mean by that logic lets post rumours of who Ar$nail, Chelsea, man city, spurs and utd are after?

as for The Bolton keep - might not be a bad signing for a back up keeper

Agree with Leeroy regarding Bogdan, he is a very solid keeper, a massive improvement on Jones and on a free - good business imo

Telegraph are reporting that we will up our original 12 million £ bid for Nathaniel Clyne after the England internationals this week, it is expected an offer of 15 million £ will get the deal done

While i am here, i also read in another paper that we are interested in Spurs left back Danny Rose

Wouldn't surprise me if we signed Rose, I think we were strongly linked with him last season as well.
Interestingly enough Spurs fans seem to regard Rose in a similar vein to how Liverpool fans regard Lovren (i.e a defensive liability).

Clyne and Rose would be great in the WB roles both very quick and know how to pass. They both have a decent goal scoring rate for defenders

Nah, not for me.
Playing with WB's means 3 CB's so if Rose and Clyne are the WB's 5 of the team would be primarily defensive players.
Add to that the midfield dream team of Milner and Henderson plus a keeper and that's 8 of our XI that are either defensive players or workhorses.
It would be like having Hodgson back.

Whenever I've seen Rose, he looks all action and up and down the wing but no real quality at either end. No thanks

I wouldn't mind Clyne to be honest. 15 million might be too much since his contract is running out next season, but he's a good player no question about that. As for Rose, thanks but not for me. As others have said, he's a huge liability. Doeboy above me sums him up perfectly.

Yep... Rose is terrible. Clyne is decent. I would rather go for a cheaper option if the 15mill figure is true though. We've been linked to Montoya in the past. He'd cost less and is a better player imo. We should be going for 3 or 4 players max.. No point going out and buying in bulk again. If we spent all our money on 2 top signings (preferably a midfielder and a forward) I'd be happy.

Not particularly convinced by Clyne either.

Stories will break tonight / tomorrow that Chelsea want Benteke to replace Drogba

Good news for those who are not keen on the idea of us getting Benteke (like me)

Mirror reporting that City have 'verbally' approached us with a 30 million £ offer, 25 million fee and 5 million in extras, they go on to say the offer will be put in writing next week after international match

I think this is a low ball offer, hopefully will kick off a bidding war and we will get somewhere between 40-50 million - or perhaps 30 million plus Jovetic ???

I'm not too sure there will be this supposed massive clamour for Sterling's signature if he goes. Really can't see too many destinations for him apart from City. Think Chelsea and Arsenal may sniff but won't be desperate to get him imo. Can't see us selling to Utd,  which only really leaves City. The Real Madrid stories are just talk imo as he is nowhere near the level required there

Daily Express and Football Italia are both claiming that we have agreed personal details with MATEO KOVACIC

Not sure weather i believe much from these papers, but have pasted the article below for anyone interested....

MATEO KOVACIC has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool as he waits on the Reds to agree a fee with Inter Milan.

The Croatian midfielder has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks.

Reports last week suggested Brendan Rodgers had seen a £15million offer for Kovacic rejected.

But Croatian newspaper Vecernji List claim Kovacic is so confident a deal will be struck that he has already agreed personal terms on Merseyside.

According to the reports, Inter are aware that Rodgers wants Kovacic as a replacement for Steven Gerrard.

Indeed, despite confirming James Milner's arrival last week, it is claimed that Rodgers will pay whatever it takes to land the 21-year-old.
