Arsenal and Liverpool are scouting Benfica's Brazilian sensation Anderson Talisca.

The two Premier League giants had spies at Benfica's 4-0 win over Arouca on Sunday, when Talisca was on target.

The 20-year-old, who was signed from Bahia in his homeland for just £3million this past summer, has scored six goals in seven games - the best start to a Portuguese season by a foreign player ever.

It is believed both Arsene Wenger's Gunners and Brendan Rodgers' Reds have watched the Brazil Under-20 international four times each already this season.

Talisca has an £18m buy-out clause in his contract and is already being tipped for a call-up to the full Brazil squad in the coming months.

Tiote anyone ??

Liverpool are set to make a £15.5million transfer offer for Cheick Tiote as they close in on the Newcastle United midfielder.

Tiote has made it clear that he wants out of Newcastle in the January transfer window and despite strong links with Arsenal, Liverpool are now the front runners.

According to reports in Spain, Brendan Rodgers is desperate to sign him to protect the Reds' back four, and the Daily Express adds that a £15.5million bid is set to go in.

Newcastle apparently want closer to £20million for the Ivorian, but he is determined to make a move and Liverpool are hopeful of getting a bargain.

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Victor Valdes with the former Barcelona goalkeeper set to undergo a medical in the next fortnight, Goal understands.

Valdes is a free agent after running down his contract with the Catalan giants in the summer but has been sidelined since March with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Liverpool are confident of wrapping up the signing of the 32-year-old, assuming he can prove his fitness. The Spain international is in the late stages of rehabilitation and his representatives are confident he will now be able to pass medical tests.

Valdes had been close to joining Monaco on a free earlier this year but the move fell through when he got injured and the French club subsequently signed Maarten Stekelenburg on loan from Fulham to challenge established No.1 Danijel Subasic.

Happy to get Valdes, think he will be exactly what our defence needs as he commands his 6 yard box.

Check Tiote is an interesting one but I would be happy with it.

Liverpool are expecting to finally sign Lazio striker Keita Balde Diao in January by making a £15million transfer offer.

Diao was a target for the Reds over the summer but Brendan Rodgers saw a bid knocked back, and decided to sign Mario Balotelli instead.

However, he has remained a fan of the powerful frontman and now reports say Liverpool will make a £15million offer in the new year - and expect to get their man.

Arsenal are also keen on the 19-year-old but he is thought to favour a switch to Anfield over the Emirates Stadium.

Diao's agent, Ulisse Savini, refused to rule out the player leaving in January during an interview last season, telling reporters 'it's too early to say what will happen.'

Former Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye has admitted he is not happy with a lack of playing time at Paris Saint-Germain

Cabaye quit St James' Park for the Parc des Princes in January in a £19million deal.

But less than a year after joining PSG the France international has revealed he is unhappy.

Arsenal could revive their interest in Cabaye having come close to signing him last summer.

Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked with the 28-year-old, who impressed during his three seasons in the Premier League.

Liverpool want to sign Barcelona midfielder Alex Song after being impressed with his performances on-loan at West Ham.

The Reds were interested in signing Song in the summer before he eventually decided to move to West Ham on a season-long loan deal.

He has since turned in a string of notable performances and the Hammers have admitted they want a permanent deal, but reports in Spain say Liverpool are ready to rival them.

It's claimed that Brendan Rodgers will try to get Barca to recall Song in January so Liverpool can then sign him, but the club are also prepared to wait until the end of the season if needed.

Barca have made it clear that they want the ex-Arsenal man gone as soon as possible, so agreeing a fee is unlikely to prove a problem.

The path is clear for Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal to battle it out for Marco Reus in January after Borussia Dortmund made a move for Paris St-Germain star Javier Pastore.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Jurgen Klopp is keen to sign the Argentina international in the upcoming transfer window, and despite interest from Real Madrid, Pastore has his heart set on a move to the Bundesliga outfit.

His arrival would open the door for Reus' exit, who is also wanted by Manuel Pellegrini's Manchester City.

The Germany international will see his release clause drop to just £20million next summer, and Klopp is keen to secure a fee closer to £30million this winter.

Reus, 25, looked set to join Barcelona after the World Cup, but the Spanish giants instead moved for Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

The winger has no intention of renewing his current deal, and has instructed his agent to find him the best offer available from the Premier League.

City are the bookies' favourites to sign Reus, whilst Dortmund's fierce rivals Bayern Munich are also believed to be in with a chance after moving for his former team-mates Mario Goetze and Robert Lewandowski in recent times.

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Marco Reus with Borussia Dortmund already working on signing a replacement for him.

The Reds have moved into pole position for Reus in recent weeks after being alerted by the news that he's rejected a new contract at Dortmund.

They were expecting to move for him the summer, but reports say a January deal is now on the cards, with Dortmund resigned to losing him - and targeting a replacement.

PSG's Javier Pastore in the man they want, and negotiations are underway for him to arrive in the new year; freeing up Reus to sign for Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers is a long-term admirer of Reus and it's thought he would make him the club's highest paid player ever if he signs.

I'm not convinced we'll spend significant money in January, we've brought in a lot of players recently (maybe even more if Valdez signs this month) and I can't see the owners being too keen on the idea of putting their hands in their pockets again just a few months later.

I don't think we'll spend at all in January. We've got FFP to think about in addition to a number of other things. If anything, it will probably be getting rid of more deadwood.

Arsenal and Liverpool could be set for a January tug of war as they both rekindle their interest in Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Both clubs have been linked with the striker in the past and with the Schalke man thought to be available for around £3m when the transfer window opens, the duo could finally make their moves.

The Dutch international is out of contract at the end of the season and the Bundesliga side could opt to cut their losses and ensure they get some money for him in the New Year.

According to the Express, Tottenham are also keen on the 31-year-old Holland international, who is thought to be interested in finally moving to the Premier League.

The former Real Madrid man has netted four goals in eight appearances so far this term, including the equaliser in his side's Champions League opener against Chelsea last month.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool find themselves much further adrift in the Premier League than they would like after their opening seven matches, sitting eighth and ninth respectively, while Spurs are just a point ahead in sixth.

And with both Arsenal and Liverpool having been hit with injuries to their front players already this campaign, both Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers could turn to Huntelaar to bolster their ranks in January.
