i don't think he'd be a bad signing. Lets face it, he wouldn't be first choice, he'd be decent english backup who would provide a solid performance and would take no time adjusting to the league. If we can get the price a bit lower, then i say well done Roy :)

Get rid of two left backs and there wages for a fee of £5miilion possilbly . Sign one 31 year old right back journey man for £2million say (who can play left back ) . Deffo christie lar has got his mitts all over this . Asset stripping at it's best, it all goes towards paying the debt ladies and gents . Meanwhile the fans say "well atleast gerrard and torres are staying ,oh and we signed joe cole " Marvelous .

right, letsput the thread back on track and leave the agenda sh!te at the door

is Young good enough for LFC?
is he a decent back up?
is the fee reasonable for a player of his calibre?
where/how often do you think he will be used?
is this an indicator of the quality of players Roy is looking at?
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I'm not convinced this is a christie signing.  Its the sort of signing Hodgson makes.

is Young good enough for LFC? No
is he a decent back up? No
is the fee reasonable for a player of his calibre? Yes
where/how often do you think he will be used? Hopefully never but with injuries who know's.
is this an indicator of the quality of players Roy is looking at? Unfortuantly I believe this is a type of player who Hodgson would sign.

i suppose the advantage is he's versatile, which is something we have lacked in defence since arbeloa left. it'll also add to the english quota.

as bigmick said, he'll be right back cover surely. i seem to remember he hated playing left back at villa and that was one of the reasons why he left.

-no he isnt good enough

-we hav better back up

-2.7m could be used with more money to get a decent left back

-cant see him being used at all as league cup is normally for the younger players, and hopefully johnson will b playing all other games.

- as roy said he wants to sign english, lets hope that doesnt mean anyone who is english is a worthy siging, THEY STIL HAV2 BE QUALITY ENGLISHMEN ROY

big NO from me

Why spend 2 mill + wages on a 31 year old player when we got arguably a better player to play backup RB in Kelly? A player that has every chance of improving too, unlike Young.

Young is more likely to be LB cover, and if he hated it at Villa....

I struggle to see the positives of this move as he has not shown in recent seasons that he is good enough to be a Liverpool player - and if he is being brought in to be back-up then i would rather see young players given a chance than someone of his age. He does add the English quota of players, which is one of the only good things i can see in this.

Doesnt our quota also HAVE to include only x amount of players over 21 also though st ?
When i was watching SSN's last night that's what they were saying.
It was stating that Stoke only had about 6 foreign players in the squad, but they had about 19 older players - which apparantly is not allowed.

Tbh i am not sure exactly what the ruling is - does anyone know ?
