auelio, degen and nearly insua have left so you need to replace these guys

sadly we cant replace them with 15 million signings like man city so we have to go cheap and solid

luke young fits this bill for me, when signing squad members as cover you just need them to be solid and he fits the bill.

i would worry if hes signing guys like luke young as first teamers but i believe he will bring in a first team left back soon aswell.

Can't see any point of this signing when we have Johnson and Kelly. Johnson is never going to play in midfield and Kelly is an excellent prospect who should be understudy to Johnson this season rather than rotting in the reserves or playing in the lower leagues.

Luke Young is an average player who we simply don't need, even as backup. We need two leftbacks.

This would be a stupid move if it actually happened.

Roy was after Luke Young when he was Fulham manager. I am still hoping this is just lazy journalism.

And thats what i cant understand about this, Kelly is good enough and should be Johnsons understudy , If this signing goes ahead what is it saying to Martin Kelly , further down the pecking order, Hes gonna think hes never gonna get a chance here, Waste of money we dont have to bring in a 31 year old for nearly 3 million when we already have a home grown talented  lad waiting in the wings, If we carry on spending unnessasrly a couple of million here and there on what you call squad players , it adds up , were we could be spending a good amount on a left back we could lose out because the funds have been used on squad players, The kid Mavinga has shown promise good turn of foot  , its about time we started bringing the more taleted youngsters through,

Que the hes brilliant brigade and hes good enough , no hes fu.cking not

Insua is :censored: and will only get slower, masch couldnt get in the west ham team, 2.5 mil is buttons for an experienced guy with some england caps who will no doubt be an invaluable squad player. Please try to be supportive.

I like Young as a leftback... Solid and very hard to get behind him... He wouldnt be my first choice leftback but as a backup option for LB/RB i think he could do a job for us...

That said, i also like Kelly as a backup RB... In a couple of years I think he could become a good player for the club and might even force his way into the starting lineup...

2.5 mill isnt big money and I think its a fair valuation of the guy... However, if Salcido is 2mill and we're close to signing Figueroa as reprted, I'd much rather have Salcido & Figuero for the LB spot and Kelly/Degen as rightback cover...

Oh ok so im not allowed an opinon now , i dont think we should be in for him , i dont think he is good enough , i dont think we should be spending what little money we have on a squad player , Villa are laughing they get there money back of us, Then you come to the being supportive . just because i dont think he should be here do you think im gonna stand there at the match and show my disaproval when he is on the pitch, Behave Neil not everyone agrees with everything or who plays and who doesnt, heard it and participated in it enough times last season at the match

Nanny my guess is that L.Young is mainly brought in as LB cover... He's played there for Villa many times and i've been imprssed with him every time i seen him play there... If anything, i think he's a better leftback than he is a rightback...
Regardless, he'd be brought in as cover and I doubt it would massively affect Kelly's slim chances of getting in the side...

hes a solid defender and can play either left back or right back

Not a bad bit of business as cover for RB. Better option than Degen anyway.

and yet he fell out with Oniel because he didnt wanna play left back, im sorry Ace but i just think our finances could be better spent on a proper left back, not a stop gap, I seen him play loads of times when he was at Charlton when he was younger , and yes he was ok  just ok , But there are better options out there younger to spend yes i know its only three million but its three million that could be needed towards us getting a top class left back or say another Striker ,

I cant see the whole big drama here, this thread is ridiculous really!
Firstly he is not half as bad as most are making out,I'm no expert on the fella but he is a pretty solid no frills type of player from what I have noticed.

I dont think for a second that he will be brought in as first choice leftback...He is more than likely being brought in because he can provide decent cover on both sides of defence and has experience. He wont charge up the flanks like a madman,he will stay back and sure as feck wont be as easily beaten as the likes of Insua!

I cant say Im delighted with signing him(if we do) but he is not as bad as some or making out..also we should remember our financial situation. We would all love world class players in every position but we are just not capable of that cause of what those two yank kunts have done to our club.

I think we will sign A VERY GOOD LEFT BACK when Masch goes(if it happens)....meanwhile I think Roy is being smart in getting someone versatile in just incase...as if Masch stays we dont have the £££ to get someone we would really want.....If Masch goes we can sign someone and we will have young as cover for both sides for a pittance in football terms.

People should keep their cacks on and remember the transfer window has a good bit of time left to run yet..........I would also bet my house, left arm and co'ck that half the idiots typing one line "Hes shi't,no way Roy"....could not pick the fella out of an identity parade,But I will never be able to prove that! :D
