RAFA'S SILVA X-FACTOR

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has rubber-stamped the imminent transfer of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid on the proviso he receives ALL the money up front.

The Spain midfielder should complete his £32million switch in the next 48 hours and Benitez wants David Silva, 23, to replace him. Crisis-hit Valencia want nothing less than a straight cash deal for Silva, rated at around £20m. Barcelona are no longer interested.

The Reds also want striker Alvaro Negredo in a swap for defender Alvaro Arbeloa, and may sign longterm target, Athletic Bilbao's 20-year-old central midfielder Javi Martinez.

25 million plus Snejder on two year loan and negredo ?!? sounds far too good to be true - sounds like a transfer you would see on FM - is it a goal.com rumour ?

I can't see an awful lot happening whilst the squad is in the Far East but is there not a deadline of Thursday of this week for European registration of players for the CL??

I am liking the new structure of the potential deal for Xabi with the likes of Snieder and Negredo being mentioned. Rafa is in the the box seat and he isn't showing any signs of budging on his demands.

There's talk on the Huddersfield forums that Martin Kelly is set for a season long loan at Tranmere. Apparently the deal will be done after the friendly on Friday. Anyone know if it's true?

I was hoping he'd get a few games for us.

i hope this isnt true and think the lad has a great future and can easily be our 4th cb for the coming season .

don't want to come off as an Ayala hater, but he is a couple of steps away from even where Kelly is. Thats ok he is younger. San Jose is probably closer than Ayala, he is much more polished. Although its possible Ayala could have the brighter long term future, if I had to bet on it, I would go for neither.
