Lucas needs to play a decent number of games next season. if that's not with us and we get decent cover then I'd let him go on loan to a Premiership club. I can't see Rafa doing that though as he only loans out players he doesn't really rate.

What points did Benayoun cost us against Everton??

Lucas gave away the free kick and Riera missed an easy interception at the near post allowing Cahill to equalise.

Where does Yossi come into it?

I agree. He really came on at the end of last season and I hope he builds on that. To me he can forge a permenant place in the team by christmas.

FFS Nino..... that's the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen here. :no

Everyone has seen Bramble's game here But I bet 95% of us haven't seen Aquilani play ever.

United Prepared to Swoop for Frustrated Villa

David Villa`s dream of signing for either Real Madrid or Barcelona appears to be slipping away from him. Madrid`s pursuit of the Valencia forward effectively came to an end with the signing of Karim Benzema, while Barcelona are edging closer to sealing a deal with Inter Milan for Ibrahimovic in a deal that could see Samuel Eto`o move in the opposite direction, if the Cameroon striker agrees to the switch.

Villa had come close to obtaining his dream move to one of Spain`s big two clubs, but despite the best efforts of the player and his suitors, a move has thus far failed to materialise.

Real Madrid had been very close to an agreement, after offering €43 million plus Negredo to Valencia but, after it had appeared they were prepared to sell the player for a similar fee, but ongoing institutional crisis at the Mestalla never fails to surprise - and the new board in charge of the debt laden club turned down the offer.

On Friday, Barcelona felt they were close to agreeing a deal with Valencia, but their €45 million verbal offer was subsequently rejected.

Villa had even offered to reduce his personal terms in order to give Barcelona greater bargaining power, but that was still not enough to persuade Valencia to release the player. Consequently Joan Laporta decided to follow up on a conversation he had first held 2 weeks previously with Inter`s Massimo Moratti, and the Barcelona president travelled to Milan on Friday to seal an agreement with the Italian club for Ibrahimovic. Alexander Hleb, a target for Everton, could also be included in the package on a loan agreement.

David Villa was unaware of Barcelona`s agreement with Ibrahimovic - as were the Spanish international`s representatives - and his discovery, on Saturday morning, that Barcelona had effectively abandoned their pursuit of him has left him distraught.

Manchester United have been following the situation very closely and they have told Villa`s representatives that, in the next day or so, they will make an offer that they feel will be well received by both Valencia and the player. In order to satisfy Valencia, that would mean United are prepared to offer the Spanish club around €45 million, plus a salary package in the region of €8 million a year to the player.

David Villa has always insisted that he would like to remain in Spain and that he does not want to move abroad, that is, until now. However, for the second consecutive season, the player has seen his dream to move to one of the two top Spanish teams end in frustration, and it is plausible that his increasing frustration at his current situation could prompt him to abandon Spain and drive him toward the Premier League and into the hands of Manchester United.

Villa`s representatives have been told that Sir Alex Ferguson`s comments that United have ended their summer spending is nothing more than an attempt to avoid becoming distracted by a summer of speculation and is a strategy for dealing with an increasingly volatile transfer market - and that if the United manager is presented with an opportunity to sign a player of David Villa`s calibre, then he has both the resources and the desire to do so.

Hull City Target Liverpool Striker Andriy Voronin - Report

Tigers boss Phil Brown could turn to the Ukraniain as his striker search continues...

20 Jul 2009 07:45:00

Hull City could be set to turn their attentions to Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin as they continue their search for a front man.

The Tigers have lost out on a number of potential signings this summer as Marc-Antoine Fortune, Fraizer Campbell and Michael Owen have all opted to join other clubs rather than arrive at the KC Stadium.

And now the Daily Mirror is reporting Hull manager Phil Brown may make an attempt to sign Ukraniain Voronin on an initial loan deal, with a view to permanent move.

Voronin was loaned out last season to German side Hertha Berlin as he failed to make an impact at Liverpool in his debut season.

The powerful forward bagged 11 goals in 21 games in Germany, a country he is familiar with having played for Mainz, Cologne and Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has suggested recently that Voronin is keen to fight for his place at Anfield but also admitted it would be difficult for him to break the current first-choice combination of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres.

Hull are in ongoing talks with Fulham striker Bobby Zamora after the Tigers had a bid accepted for the former West Ham United man.

Andrea Dossena Calls Roma Ace Alberto Aquilani To Liverpool

The Italian defender is hoping Aquilani will soon join him on Merseyside...

Despite flirting with Juventus this summer, Liverpool and Italy left-back Andrea Dossena is now expected to remain in England and has urged Roma midfield star Alberto Aquilani to try his hand in the Premier League.

Speculation is rife in the peninsula that the Reds have set their sights on Aquilani and are set to lodge a formal bid to lure ‘Il Principino’ to Anfield.

“Aquilani is destined to improve even more and could do so even more quickly under a great coach like [Liverpool boss Rafael] Benitez,” Dossena told laroma.net.

“A player like him can comfortably play for Liverpool or any other club. He was sidelined due to physical problems last season and could not be at his best, but he has proved to be a great footballer.

“Aquilani can do well in the Premier League, even though it is a more physical league than Serie A.”

Aquilani is reportedly Benitez’s first choice to replace Xabi Alonso, who is being courted by Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid.

“Benitez is very good at setting up the team and moving it around,” mused Dossena.

“He has many solutions at his disposal and could employ Aquilani in different ways.”

Press reports are suggesting that Liverpool are prepared to table an €18 million bid for Aquilani and offer him a lavish five-year deal worth €3m-per-year.

he gave away a stupid free kick at our right back position if i remember correctly and as soon as he gave it away i knew they would score from it as we are so bad at defending crosses plus there was only a few minutes left.

edit- to say im pretty sure it was yossi and not lucas but i could be wrong.

That's the game I was thinking of. League game against Everton benayoun chased back and brought one of their players down when they were stuck in the corner.

.tv Match Report

On another note...will Roma fans be slating Dossena on their message boards for talking up one of their players?
