I was under the impression that Anelka's contract runs out in the summer, can anyone clarify this?

whether it does or not he is extremely unhappy at city and I dont blame him really, they are awful, he is world class and I would love him to come to us, so what he upsets the applecart if we get goals from him which we despratly need I dont give a sh.it who comes to us, and bangs goals in to be honest.
Plus rafa would sort him out anyway.
And hes older now probably not throwing tantrums or spitting his dummy out any more.

Heard we might be in for Koller if we can get him on the cheap. His contract is up in the summer so there would only be a nominal fee involved.

He plays well with Baros, we could probarly get him for less than £1mil and could give him an 18 month contact so it would be low risk.

It looks quiet clear that Benitiez is looking for a striker with a more physical approach. Most of the strikers that have been mentioned are fairly tall and strong but all have technical capabilties.

I suspect we will sign one Striker in the transfer window and maybe a centre back.

With a move for Leeds goalkeeper Scott Carson on hold, Rafael Benitez has now moved his attention towards Aston Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorenson.

Neither Jerzy Dudek nor Chris Kirkland have been rock solid so far this season and it is well documented that Benitez wants to sign a new goalkeeper in January. Dudek or Kirkland could be moved out at the same time generate funds for their replacement.

Sorenson impressed Benitez in Liverpool's draw against Aston Villa a few weeks ago and has been impressive in the Premiership for quite a few years now.

He moved to Birmingham from Sunderland in 2003 when his former club got relegated and joined Gavin McCann at Villa Park. Sorenson went straight into David o'Leary's first team lineup and hasn't disappointed the former Leeds manager since.

Sorensen would be a quality addition, although his price tag may be a little high.

I remember a game played at Euro 04 between Italy and Denmark where Sorensen and Buffon made some absolutely sublime saves, in particular Sorensen.

HENCHOZ
some sources

The agent of Liverpool defender Stephane Henchoz says that a move to Scottish giants Rangers is a 'real option'.

Henchoz's agent Jorg Vonmatt told the Scottish Daily Express: "Rangers is a real option for Stephane and he was very impressed with what Alex McLeish had to say to him about the club.

"Stephane also liked McLeish's ideas on football and he has also spoken with Gregory Vignal about what he could expect if he signed for Rangers.

"Gregory has assured him that the prestige of playing at Liverpool is matched by Rangers and Stephane is very interested in coming to Scotland."

He added: "The idea of a six-month deal to stay until the summer is not suitable.

"It doesn't make a lot of sense for Stephane as his wife, Catherine, is back in Switzerland and due to give birth and he wants to make sure his family are settled when he makes the next move.

"I have spoken to Martin Bain at Rangers and he has taken this information away with him and we are now waiting on them to come back."

-------------
The 30-year-old Swiss international is due to leave in the transfer window after falling out of favour under Rafael Benitez.

Henchoz has attracted the attention of a number of sides with Charlton and Southampton also in the race to sign the former Blackburn man.

Benitez is set to strengthen his defensive options with the signing of Mauricio Pellegrino on a free transfer from his former side Valencia.

PELLEGRINO

goal.com
Valencia defender Mauricio Pellegrino may be about to join former boss Rafa Benitez at Liverpool.
"Pellegrino’s agent told us Liverpool are interested in the player but the move has yet to materialise,” said Valencia director Manuel Llorente.

"The player has a contract until June but we have agreed he can field offers from other clubs.

"And we will allow him to leave on a free transfer.”

new keeper

Liverpool are rumoured to be ready to pip Bolton to the capture of Oman keeper Ali Al-Habsi.

The 22-year-old has been tipped for greatness since his teenage years, with former Newcastle keeper John Burridge championing his cause way back in 2001.

Burridge was national goalkeeping coach in Oman and aided the youngster's development earlier in his career.

Al-Habsi has been with Norwegian side Lyn for the past two years and his performances have earned rave reviews.

He had trials with Manchester City and Bolton earlier this year and The Trotters have firmed their interest up with a bid in recent weeks.

Bolton's offer has been described as derisory by the Norwegian club, which could well allow Liverpool to sneak into pole position.

"There is no point even discussing it," Lyn director Morgan Andersen told VG of Bolton's offer. "The offer is terribly low, it is almost insulting our intelligence."

Lyn, though, are claiming that they have been approached by an agent representing Liverpool.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez is rumoured to be looking at strengthening his goalkeeping options, with the Spaniard said to be unconvinced by Chris Kirkland and Jerzy Dudek, and Al-Habsi could well have caught his eye.

"If the offer we have got is correct, it's certainly something we can consider," added Andersen.

Al-Habsi has struggled to earn a work permit in the past, but his agent said last month that Oman's improvement in recent years should allow him to secure the documentation required to play in The Premiership and a move could emerge in January.

It is well known that Liverpool need to make some January signings, but Rafael Benetiz must emphasise on the striking department.
Cisse is out for the season, Baros is in an out with niggling injuries. These two are the only 'experienced' strikers we have. Leaving Pongolle and Mellor who are not going to provide us with consistent goal scoring beacuse of the lack of experience.
Our midfield is our squads strongest asset - which has our teams strongest asset - Steven Gerrard.
The Defence definatly needs some new blood - new Spanish blood? Pelligrino will boost our strength in defence, and provide some extra depth and competition.
Kirkland is cursed with injuries. Extra depth will be needed. Dudek in goals now, if Benetiz signs Carrison, it will not really provide as much depth as an experienced keeper. An experienced keeper will also boost competition for the No. 1 jersey, which might even improve the peformances that have been haunting Liverpool goalkeepers lately.

Priorities;
Striker
Defender
Keeper
Midfield
