Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson could stun bitter rivals Liverpool by making Pako Ayesteran his new assistant manager.

The Telegraph says the former Liverpool coach, now working at Benfica, is in line to succeed Carlos Queiroz once his deal to become Portugal's new coach is closed.

Ferguson is keen to recruit an assistant manager with an established network of continental contacts.

 , made my day that . I doubt pako would go there to be honest . Pako knows that rafa would nto be happy and also liverpool fans would not like it . Secondly i don't think pako would like to work with a manager like fergie if he could not work with rafa

The Manhattan Project wrote:Pako would be a double agent.

He'd be Fergie's friend, but would secretly give Rafa some tips about the Manure players:

- Giggs is actually a shaved gorilla.
- Anderson is one of those "Predator" aliens.
- Nani is Ronaldo's live-in lover.
- Gary Neville is his own father.

...and so forth.

 and how would that help us in a match against them?

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez admits David Villa is on his list of potential striker recruits after Peter Crouch's impending departure to Portsmouth.

Villa, 26, was one of the stars of Euro 2008, scoring four times as Spain won their first major trophy in 44 years.

"We have Torres, Voronin, Kuyt, Babel and Steven Gerrard, who can play as a second striker," Benitez said. "But we will try to bring in another option.

"Villa we know all about. He is on our list. But maybe it will be difficult."

Fernando Torres scored 33 goals in a spectacular first season at Anfield, but the other strikers only managed a combined total of 17 goals to undermine any hopes of launching a sustained Premier League title challenge.

Villa scored 18 league goals for Valencia last season and was the top scorer at Euro 2008, notably scoring a hat-trick against Russia in a Group D match.

And he also proved he could form an effective partnership with Torres, despite pre- tournament concerns that Spanish coach Luis Aragones would be forced to leave one out in order to select a balanced team.
BBC SPORT

If its a choice between Keane and Villa, I would take Villa every time even if he is not "prem proven".

the quotes are from an interview that he did for LFC Now. If you watch the interview, you do not come away thinking there is a chance we are going to get Villa.

Sounds very promising, he's as good as saying we're about to have a decent crack at signing the lad, will this turn out to be yet another time we ( and Rafa ) are let down becaue we cant afford the extra 2,3mill like Alves, Simao etc. If this doesnt come off i dont think we should ask about Silva, i dont think he's the type of player we need out wide as like Garcia he's aways looking to come inside and IMO we need a proper chalk on the boots wide man to give us the dimension we've been missing all these years.

i was just thinking about a formation we could play with Barry comin in.

Riena

Degan-------Carra--------Agger-------Doessena

                  Machy-------Alonso

Babel--------------Gerrard----------------Barry

                           Torres

I fancy putting barry there. Twill kinda be like kuyt on the right but only Barry is twice the player kuyt is. He's would naturally come inside and link up with gerrard and slide balls in to torres. I think this looks quite good and appealing.

I mean lets face it were not getting any1 else that good in.

Money in = 20 mil + 8.75/9 mil + Le tallec etc and we have about 30-35 million.

Money out = 7mil doessena + Barry 15 (finnan) makes up to 22 mil.

If were lucky we'l get som1 like downing for 12 mil and pennant or somin like that but i am certain the Alsonso deal is off now so we should use him. we could trade alonso and 10mil for david silva, or Villa or maybe xavi from barca or maybe eto. we could get any1 we want by trading alonso.

We must have some of the most non optimistic fans in the world all i ever here is "Yeh right were not going to get him" and "Can i have some of what your on".

Why are other fans so proud of themselves they think they can get anyplayer no matter how much of a pipe dream it seems? every season is always the f@ckin same, we might aswell
ban rumours from the site all it does is ultimately end in people getting on a downer.

if martin o'neil came back down into reality for a second we may actually sign barry. Why is this taking so long. 15mil and Finnan is fair enough for both sides yet nothing happens still. I think Kicks was right when he tried to fire Parry as this is evidence he is :censored: when it comes to transfers as he never bothers to do anything quickly.

With this David Villa stuff. Its nice to know were in the mixer but there is hardly a sniff of a chance of this ever happening is there. we'll have 10 mil left after the barry deal at best so how on earth are we going to afford him? Clubs like chelsea, barca etc all want him aswell and have a bottomless pit and quotes of 30+mil have been tossed around so us with our 10 are way off. Though i cant see why we havnt tried trading Alonso for Villa. Alonso is spanish, they will love him and need an Alonso so why the fuk not? It makes more sence than the invention of the wheel. their getting 10mil and a top notch centre mid and we get villa. or at :censored: least do same deal for silva.

Why havnt they thought of this yet? If they hav then bloody move quick cos i want him now!

I dislike Parry too, but what do you want him to do, hold a gun to O'neill's head until he lets Barry leave?  That stubborn :censored: just doesn't want to sell him for a sane amount of money.
