LOL look at the MARCA HEADLINE as we speak

http://www.marca.com/

A por Torres, which means, Target: Torres. Apparently Chelsea are offering 50 M €, wich would be 38M quid more or less (wait LFC2007 figures for accuracy :D )

I mean, they have to be joking :D

According to Marca, the Liverpool answer has been "Refusal to negotiate" :D

I've heard that we're in for Aaron Lennon and Aaron Ramsey (Cardiff City).

Rafa wants Huntelaar to partner Torres until Nemeth is ready.

Palace prodigy Bostock set to join Tottenham
EXCLUSIVE by NEIL ASHTON - More by this author »

Last updated at 23:07pm on 12th May 2008

John Bostock is on the verge of signing for Tottenham after Crystal Palace reluctantly agreed to sell the most sought-after teenager in the country in a deal that could be worth millions to the Championship club.

Bostock, who made his debut for Palace aged 15 years 289 days, was told he could leave Selhurst Park last Wednesday and Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli believes he has persuaded the England Under 17 midfielder, also wanted by Barcelona, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, to move to White Hart Lane.

Palace, who hope to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Bristol City in the Championship play-offs second leg on Tuesday evening, are demanding around £5million, with a series of bonus clauses dependent on club and country appearances.

Palace season ticket-holder Bostock wants to be close to his family and that will reinforce his decision to stay in London.

His schoolboy contract at Selhurst Park expired last week and although Palace offered him a professional deal he has decided to pursue his football education at another club.

Bostock burst on to the scene when he made his debut in Palace's 2-0 loss against Watford in October and went on to make another four appearances for the club.

He came through Palace's excellent academy system but it is understood that Bostock's chances have been limited because of the more direct approach used by current manager Neil Warnock

Benítez waits on Fifa before making market moves

Benítez waits on Fifa before making market moves

Rafael Benítez last night admitted that he will not finalise his summer transfer plans until Fifa has taken its decision over introducing the 6+5 rule. The Liverpool manager has put Jermaine Pennant and Peter Crouch up for sale during the transfer window as he seeks to raise funds for team strengthening. But the values of both players could soar overnight as Fifa takes a vote that could change the face of football across the globe.

Fifa's president, Sepp Blatter, has proposed to his organisation's congress a regulation stipulating that every team must field six starting players eligible to represent the country they play in. The matter will be put to a vote on May 29 and 30.

If Blatter's plan is passed then Englishmen such as Pennant and Crouch - as well as Benítez's England-international targets Gareth Barry, of Aston Villa, and Blackburn Rovers' David Bentley - would become even more coveted commodities.

"We know what are the rules and we will try to do things whatever happens with Fifa," said Benítez. "Crouch and Pennant are under contract and they are our players. We are waiting now. We know they have been playing well and a lot of clubs are interested in them so we will wait and see. But they are under contract."

Both Crouch and Pennant were left out of Liverpool's 2-0 last-day win at Tottenham Hotspur, with Benítez describing the move as "a tactical decision". But Liverpool would be among the most heavily affected teams in the Premier League if the move is passed by Fifa. Liverpool started 42 matches with either only one or two English-qualified players this season, starting with three 17 times and with four on only one occasion.

"I feel the key is for the fans to see the best players on the pitch," said Benítez. "It is clear - in the past you would talk about a lot of local players but all the teams want to sign players and the best players come from all over the world."

A bit fkn late if you ask me. Everyone knows that Crouch is on his way out by now and whatever happens in the vote(which won't get passed anyway) Crouch will either buy his contract out or be sold. The only thing delaying things will do is increase the amount we have to pay for Barry. We always get shafted when it comes to selling players.

No way that quota rule will pass, the big clubs have too much to lose.

If FIFA do want to make any changes to the current situation they are going to have problems under the EEC labour laws, but if they can make a case that football is a special situation (which it probably is in all honesty) they might be able to do something. The likelyhood is though I would have thought that they'll have to provide a lead-in time of a couple of seasons or so, one season at least. If they don't do that, they'll have the clubs taking them to court as they'll have all bought players which can't be used.

As for Crouch, not for the first time Rafa's arrogance is making me a little uneasy. At first glance this "buy yourself out of your contract and then play abroad" thing looks like an absolute no-brainer. His current contract is apparantly about 3 million per annum, so as I understand it if he shells out 3 mill' (or somebody pays him a 3 mill signing on fee so it doesn't cost him a bean) he can feck off. He could concieveably do a deal with Villareal or whoever, "you give me 3 million quid, I'll play for you for a season and then I'll feck off back to England". Minimum he would be worth having played a season in Spain would be 7 million or so I would have thought, and quite possibly half as much as that again. It's not hard to see why Villareal probably wouldn't be on their own in wanting to take advantage of such a deal.

We could end up with plenty of egg on our faces, getting 3 million for him in paid up contract money and then seeing him return twelve months later for ten million. It strikes me that we should be conducting ourselves very carefully where Crouch is concerned, we've treated him like a c... all season but all of a sudden he's got a couple of cards of his own to play with.

Villareal could be the target club of Peter Crouch, according to Marca. Lots of speculation this days here. Villarreal would be a nice club because they have money.

Supposedly all the "big clubs" have an unwritten agreement not to take advantage of the contract buyout players. I.e. Ronaldiniho, Lampard, who could buy out their contracts and go for next to nothing(in comparison to their estimated value). I am not so sure that the smaller clubs would refuse a good player on the cheap, though I suppose "big club players" may not want to drop down to a smaller club.

I would guess that if a Ronaldo or a Torres ran down their contracts, the agreement would soon be broken :D

Man United set to sign Aaron Ramsey for £5million

By Alan Nixon 13/05/2008

The Manchester United boss opened talks to land the 17-year-old from FA Cup finalists Cardiff City just 24 hours after clinching the Premier League title.

Ramsey's advisers are keen and the transfer is expected to be officially announced after Cardiff's Wembley date on Saturday. Midfield starlet Ramsey is viewed as the long-term replacement for Paul Scholes.

It will be a blow for Arsene Wenger, who wants the superkid to join his youthful ranks at Arsenal. And Chelsea have also been looking at Ramsey as a squad man and one for the future.
