DiarioSport are reporting that Madrid President Ramon Calderon is preparing to bring in a host of new Galacticos at the end of the season as a trophyless campaign is looking more and more likely, and Gerrard along with Manchester United's Christiano Ronaldo are believed to be top of his wanted list.

Gerrard has hinted that he could quit Merseyside if they continue to fail to match his ambition and Madrid are hoping that failure to qualify for the Champions League would force Gerrards hand into leaving the club.

Why is a trophyless campaign looking likely ?
They are top of there league still despite a few poor results lately.
And they are obviously still in with a shout in the champions league 2-1 down to Shalke with the second leg at home.

You mean Roma mate

Yeah or even Roma

Having seen what united did to them last season i dont think they should be too worried about overturning a 1 goal deficit though.

I've said before that if Gerrard was going to leave while still at his peak, he'd have done it before now.  After reading his book I don't believe he'll walk away from the club.

However, if reports are true, 50 million for a player with about 3-4 seasons left at his peak?  Would you be tempted?  Some clubs might.

Bayern Interested In Kuyt
Bayern Munich are considering making a bid for Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt in the summer according to reports emanating from Holland.
The Reds forward has never really hit the form expected of him and has struggled for goals this season, hitting only three in the Premier League thus far.

Rafa Benitez quite often played him out of position wide on the right with Steven Gerrard preferred in the central role.

Kuyt did get amongst the goals against Inter in the first leg of Liverpool’s Champions League tie, but Dutch magazine ‘Sportweek’ claims that Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on the player in preparation for a summer bid.

Bayern look set to lose one of their three forwards Luca Toni, Miroslav Klose or Lukas Podolski, and with the Goran Pandev move apparently dead in the water, Kuyt is seen as a suitable replacement by those in the know at the Allianz Arena.

Liverpool paid £9 million to Feyenoord for the 27 year but are unlikely to consider any potential business until they have secured Champions League football next season with a fourth place finish in the Premier League.

Atletico go for Reina
  5/03/2008

Liverpool keeper Jose Reina is an £8million target for Atletico Madrid.

The ambitious club have already targeted Reds boss Rafa Benitez and are keeping tabs on Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso.

But Spain star Reina (above) is also on their hit-list of Anfield targets

8 million

He cost 6 and since then has been a massive success. He seems really happy and to love it here if his celebrations to the goals against Inter are anything to go by anyway.

Also why the fook would he want to sign for an average team that lost over two legs to Bolton  ???

The Mirror must have based their info on this article

Spanish article

In a long article today which is based purely on speculations. Basically their point is that this 3 men are wanted, that Aguirre is not triumphing in Atletico, that Benitez is unsettled in England, and it's a good time for movements.

I don't see it happening, but this is the rumour mill.

Anyone know this Kid

Liverpool eye Argentine talent
by Ben Blackmore, 06 March 2008

Liverpool are targeting Argentinian youngster Oscar Trejo to boost their attacking options for next season, according to reports in Spain.

Rafa Benitez is believed to be an admirer of the Real Mallorca teenager, who is being lined up for an initial loan deal in the summer.

Benitez will push to set up a deal that would give The Reds the option to sign Trejo permanently in the future, should he fulfill his promise at Anfield.

The Argentine attacker has failed to make an impact at Mallorca since joining in 2006, making just 12 league appearances, scoring one goal.

He is the type of support striker that Benitez is looking to adopt in his 4-2-3-1 system, a technically gifted player who can play in between the lines.

Trejo’s current contract runs until 2011, but he is said to be unprepared to put up with life on the bench, with his Olympic hopes already in doubt due to his lack of playing time this season.

We need present, we don't need more future. I've heard indeed good things about Oscar, but haven't seen him much due to lack of minutes in Mallorca. Just like Merida, and many other youngsters they are far from being ready for top football.

I don't know how much he would cost but if its around the £10-15million mark we should get him (if he's fully fit), not as much a partner for Torres as someone who can take on the role of main striker when Torres is injured/rotated/rested.

I've been thinking about us getting Van Persie for a while. He'd be suited to the 4-2-3-1 formation, having the ability to play as a wide forward like Babel. In fact, we could either have Van Persie left and Babel right, or vice versa so they can cut in onto their favoured foot.
