Reds eye Kaka in £37.5m bid

Liverpool are set to launch a £37.5 million bid for AC Milan attacking midfielder Kaka, according to reports emanating from Italy.

Reds' boss Rafa Benitez is set to test Milan's resolve to keep the player following rumours of a training ground bust up with Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Kaka had been linked with a move to Everton where he is reported to have impressed David Moyes with his displays this season. However, it is thought that Kaka is reluctant to join a 'small club'.

Liverpool tell FC Twente £4M for Mihaylov
tribalfootball.com - February 13, 2008

Liverpool have told FC Twente it will cost them £4 million for Bulgarian goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov.

Mihaylov is impressing on-loan at the Dutch club and said: "Liverpool have asked for such a high price, because they wanted to discourage Twente from buying me.

"I expect to join Liverpool in July, because my visa problems will be settled by then."

Misfiring Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has been linked with a move to Newcastle United (various). Kevin Keegan originally set his sights on the Dutchman’s team-mate Peter Crouch but could now be considering a double swoop.

St James' Park supporters were hoping for a more joyful reunion with their former hero, but so far things haven’t exactly sizzled in the north-east. Goals have been hard to come by and although Michael Owen is kind of back on form, he is seemingly only ever weeks away from another crushing injury and there is not much in the way of strike partners.

Rafa Benitez can definitely afford to lose one of the pair, but in my view is unlikely to want to sell both. The Spaniard still values Kuyt whose recent performances have been better, although they're still missing the vital ingredients, such as goals!

Would Liverpool fans be excited by a potential swap, with Michael Owen heading back to Anfield? I realise this is unlikely, but would that be a potentially good move? Clearly Fernando Torres is being relied on far too heavily in attack and something needs to be done about that.

I would love to have owen back , i think he and torres would be great and now that he's gotten back in his scoring habit 2 in his last 2

Liverpool to sign Diarra in the summer?

February 13, 2008

It is reported that Liverpool are planning to launch a bid for Real Madrid’s midfield anchorman Mahamadou Diarra but one fails to understand just why. No, not why the report has surfaced but why the Reds would want the Ghanaian international.

Liverpool already have their own defensive genius in Javier Mascherano and it would be prudent for the Merseyside club should they focus on signing him on a permanent contract instead of signing a new defensive medio. Moreover, they also let Mohamed Sissoko leave for Juventus in January.

Inter Milan too are linked to Diarra but the player is now firmly established as a regular under Bernd Schuster at Real Madrid. The chances that he could be lured away from the Bernabeu are slim.

HYPIA SET TO LEAVE

When debating the best Premier League player bargains, many forget about the Sami Hyypia’s fantastic impact on Liverpool at a relatively low cost to the club. After arriving for £3m almost nine year ago (has it really been that long?) the centre-back has been pretty much solidity personified.

This season he has done a great job and has put in performances that belie his age. Now, however, it seems that a new challenge awaits the 34-year-old Finland international.

Hyypia is out of contract in the summer and Celtic have emerged at the most likely destination. It would prove a good move and in the SPL he could easily give a couple more years of service and he would also have a good shot at playing again at the highest level in Europe.

Liverpool fans will no doubt be sad to see the long-term servant leave, but I think it is probably the right time. With Martin Skrtel’s arrival and Daniel Agger on the mend, Hyypia may find his appearances in the first team restricted to Carling Cup encounters, and he deserves better than that

Milan look to prise £30 million Liverpool star away from Anfield
According to reports in Tuttosport, Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has today said he will do everything he can to bring Liverpool captain Steve Gerrard to the club at the end of the season.

Gerrard has been linked with several moves away from Anfield in recent years with Chelsea and Real Madrid said to be keen admirers of the 27-year old.

There had been speculation around Liverpool that if the Reds board sack Rafa Benitez at the end of the season then that would lead to a mass exodus of players including Gerrard.

Next season marks Inter’s centenary and Moratti claims he will spend big in the summer to mark the momentous occasion for the club and Gerrard is one of his top targets. It would be an awful shame to see Gerrard leave the Premier League but with liverpool struggling for fourth place and the possible dismissal of Benitez it may yet happen.

Real Madrid star heading for Liverpool?!?
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is believed to be keen on Real Madrid midfielder Mahamadou Diarra.

Tuttosport are reporting that the Merseyside club, along with Inter Milan have already been in touch with players agent regarding his future.

Seen a few reports that we are interested (maybe a replacement for Alonso?)

Maybe. Or perhaps Mascherano, who's still some millions away of being ours. Rafa mentioned both Mascherano and Alonso as part of the bright future of Liverpool. I think that if it's up to Rafa, both will stay.

Anyhow

http://www.marca.com/edicion....16.html

According to Marca Mascherano has offered himself to Barcelona and while Barcelona likes Mascherano they find the signing up too expensive but they do not discard it.

I don't give much credit to this kind of rumours, but it's in the press so it's rumour mill meat.

The press is not very consistent. One day they say Gerrard and Rafa do not get along well, the next day they speculate Gerrard might leave Anfield should Rafa is sacked.

Agreed and it does not help the club at all in any way , it creates chaos and unsettles the players . The press is a very powerful tool eh

Agree on the diagnostic on Diarra. He's better suited than Sissoko in the holding mid role, has better defensive concepts and positioning, a "muscle player" but I wouldn't preffer him over Mascherano or ALonso.

Sorry sabre i would take him over alonso any day , struggling for the past 2 season , here we have a player who is in rich vein of form , lost his place to a better player . If we get him for 8 million to 10 and the money is there i would take him , only if we have signed our first piorities already ...

I don't like Diarra, I've been watching him in Real the past 2 years, he is similar to sissoko, but he is a better passer and has better intelligence, but not more than sissoko in the destructive area.
