Sounds Like he just wants to draw up a bit of a media story to put his name back in the papers

From the offal:

REDS QUASH CAPELLO TALK
Jimmy Rice 05 December 2007
Liverpool Football Club today rubbished reports linking Fabio Capello with a move to Anfield.
Newspaper speculation on Wednesday suggested the former Juventus and AC Milan coach had been approached by the club.

But spokesman Ian Cotton said: "This story is complete nonsense."
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Didn't Spurs deny talking to Ramos back in September?

Precisely. Whether the story is true, or absolute b0ll0cks, the club and Parry are hardly likely to come out and say, "well yes we did contact him just in case but we're not interested anymore". My guess is that that they didn't contact him, Mourinho or anybody else, but that there was contact made by a third party of either one of the managers or by the club.

This idea that clubs consider making managerial changes without testing the water is off the mark for me.

I don't believe Rafa's job is under threat but at the same time you can never believe anything in 'official statements', how many times have managers had 'backing of the chairman' and been sacked the next day!!!

You pay however many hundred million pounds for a football club, you seriously consider sacking the manager (and nobody will convince me that they didn't seriously consider it) and you don't look at other options ??? particularly given the owners ignorance about the way the football World works, I would have thought the story is almost certainly based on fact.

My own feeling is that Capello will certainly have been considered, but that Mourinho will be their first choice should they pull the trigger on Rafa. I can see angry people reaching for their keyboards right now, but IMHo Rafa is not completely out of the woods yet as far as the owners see it. Failure to win in Marseilles or defeat at Home to Man Utd will make our season look very different to how it looks right now.

If both scenarios came to pass, I would be extremely surprised if they pulled the trigger, but much, much stranger things have happened.

I agree Copello wouldn't attribute such remarks to a club like LFC, unless contact had not been made - totally upsetting to hear though, how fickle an act - foreign owners clueless and driven by one thing alone, these are worrying times indeed

Can't imagine Dabvid Morres ever behaving like this - imagine .. no u can't.

As the banners on the kop say:

"Rafa Benitez.. the spirit of shankly lives on"

" As always we are focussed on supporting our manager"

Hail Benitez !
THE BRENDAN REVOLUTION IS UPON US !

RAFA.. MADE THE PEOPLE HAPPY !
