Liverpool midfielder Alonso closing in on Barcelona move

Alonso could be heading to Barcelona as part of a £30million deal with Samuel Eto'o going to Anfield, says the Daily Mirror.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez wants to bring Eto'o to Anfield and is prepared to offer around £30million with Spanish international Xabi Alonso to join the Spanish giants in part exchange.

Alonso has been stalling over a new contract at Liverpool and Barca boss Frank Rijkaard is an admirer of the Spaniard.

Pure speculation im sure, but is this something you would like to see? i for one want to see eto'o play for us but im unhappy with the thought of having to see Alonso go.....he's been brilliant since he came and no matter how good mascherano has been for us since January i dont care because he cant do what Alonso can when firing at full form.

Alonso is staying at Anfield because its going to be "Incredibly exciting". He knows something we don't know Guys, so relax and stay calm!!!

A bit of an average season for Xabi and rumour mills are running wild.Noway Rafa is going to swap Alonso for Eto'o.But then would Alonso got ot Barca already they have Deco,Xavi,Edmilson,Iniesta,Motta etc in MF(otherthan Ronaldinho and Messi) Are they gonna play with 6 midfielders

I think the last 2 posts are missing the crucial fact that Alonso has signed for a further 4 years.
