Brilliant!! At last a chink of light through the dark storm clouds of the last few days.

This guy was very good during the world cup. Definitely remember him and thinking "He's a player".

Good old Roy. Hopefully he can pull a World Class left back and striker out of the hat too (for 9 Million!!??!!).

This news is nearly as life reassuring as the Joe Cole signing. I did wonder would Roy get any of the Masch cash.

Where does this leave Poulsen though. Push Joe out left (or right), Stevie back behind Torres and have Poulsen and Raul as the holding midfielders??

I remember Meireles playing in the World Cup from the numerous tattoos on his arms. A good signing, although I thought Poulson was meant to be Masch's replacement. I can see Meireles playing further forward than Poulson.

Well, judging by the speed of this news it would seem that:

1) Roy had actually been promised some of the Masch money to spend
2) That this deal had been lined up for some time and it just required the Masch transfer to make it happen

I remember seeing bits and pieces of this lad in the WC and the last Euro. He seemed a good player and let's hope that proves to be the case and that he can bed in quickly. I'd ask my Portuguese neighbour about him but he's in Portugal at the moment and generally talks sh!te anyway.

OK... I'm not ecstatic but he's a good player so I'm glad...

but the question IS... are we gonna sell Lucas? We got 3 freakin defensive midfielders... albeit Meireless is abit more all-rounded.

and another question IS... are we gonna buy a quality striker?
