It's nice to see Drogba not get his own way, the whingeing :censored: has made a career out of diving to get penalties and free kicks and when you consider how good a player he can be and the size of him it's a blatant attempt at cheating.

For him or any other Chavski player to go off on one is a sign of their sheer arrogance and immaturity. I'd be embarrassed to see one of our players do such a thing.

I'm chuffed that Barca have made the final cos their a briliant sight to behold when allowed to play the beautiful game and they represent a better chance of beating the Mancs than Chelsea do IMO.

Lets not forget that apart from the last couple of games (Arsenal at Home and Away in the semi's) Utd haven't played particularly well at all and as good as Ferdinand and Vidic think they are when they come up against the very best (Torres , Gerrard, Messi, Iniesta etc..... their found wanting. Henry and Puyol will be back for the final and I believe they have what it takes to win and deny utd a 4th European Cup.

Also  as an aside I'm I the only person is hacked off at SKY's blatant attempts to claim that Utd will be the first team to win back to back CL (In the new format although they don't always add that in their commentary !) Whats all that about ? So European Football only began when the new format was contrived did it ? Ajax and Bayern have won it 3 years on the bounce in the 70's and Notts Forest and Liverpool won back to back European Cups. Real Madrid won a ridiculous 5 in a row in the late 50's/ early 60's.

Brilliant (but only a matter of time)!

In fairness, Chelsea were absolutely robbed tonight but who fecking cares?  Karma--gotta love it. :D

Barcelona had better play a whole lot better than that in Rome, though.  Didn't they only have one or two shots on goal, including Iniesta's strike?  Not good enough.  Hopefully the Mancs will look to play a little football against them and leave some space for Messi and Co to exploit.

The OTT reactions of Drogba and Ballack were priceless tonight but hopefully only the appetizer.  I want to see Ronaldo flinging himself about in frustration and Rooney punching the ref after Barca do them in injury time in Rome!  :buttrock

I think Iniesta's was the only shot. Barcelona did have 70% of posession, lost less balls than Chelsea and stole more balls than them, but I can't truely say they deserved to go through.

However, I agree their manager when he said Chelsea had the strength, but at the end talent won.

And I hope that talent will be triumphant against Manchester too. Guardiola didn't rest any players against Madrid, and hopefully with the la liga sorted he'll be able to play a well rested team against the Mancs.

Not that I like the Cule's very much, they're a bit annoying when they win too, but nothing compared to something as disgusting as Ferguson or Chelsea.

Fivecups: I will teach you some songs... it's easy to learn, as they don't have many

They had 29% possession in 180 minutes. Barca could easily have been 3-0 from the first leg. However Barca were their own worst enemies. They were really pi$$ing me off last night with their reluctance to shoot, especially Iniesta who finally had a shot and scored after a whole game of trying to walk the ball in with a succession of one twos around the box.

Chelsea just lumped it long for the majority of the game. The Pique one was a blatant pen. The Malouda one had to be a pen instead of a free kick even though it wasn't even a foul imo. The one right at the end was a 50/50 call as Eto'o had his back turned. For what it's worth the sending off wasn't right either imo. Anelka fell over his own feet.

The scenes at the end were a joke though. I think Ballack touched the ref more times than he touched the ball. And as for that other tw@t, it's ironic him having a go at the ref considering it was partly his fault they went out. One for missing two or three guilt edge chances over the two legs, and secondly for contributing to the added four minutes at the end with his constant feigning of injury.

So glad Barca won as I couldn't have stomached those two evils in the final again.

Yeah I was saying this to a mate just the other day. It's as if history counts for nothing now. I guess they are very defensive over the re-branding they done when they reformatted the competition but that is no excuse to not acknowledge history. They may aswell change the bloody cup altogether then.

Oh about your post there is a forum glitch so sometimes you don't see your osty right away. But if you go out into another thread and back in it should be there.  :D

Johan Cruyff: Chelsea’s Conservative Approach Cost Them Against Barcelona

The Dutch maestro gave a frank assessment of the Blaugrana’s highly controversial game at Stamford Bridge.

Johan Cruyff believes that his former club, Barcelona, deserved to book their ticket to Rome for the Champions League final after a 1-1 draw at Chelsea in the second leg of the semi-finals saw them advance on the away-goals rule.

The Dutchman, however, readily admitted that the Blaugrana didn’t have the best of matches at Stamford Bridge and although he panned the two referees who were appointed over both legs, he believed Chelsea only had themselves to blame for their elimination.

“As a coach, we tend not to talk about referees and even when we do, it serves no purpose. But now, as an observer from the outside, I can say that both referees in the semi-finals have been two of the worst, for different reasons,” he wrote in his regular column in El Periodico.

“Henning Ovrebo last night was just as bad as Wolfgang Stark at the Camp Nou. The Norwegian expelled [Eric] Abidal unjustly, he didn’t see the [Gerard] Pique penalty, and he missed a few other half-calls for a penalty as well.

“It is clear that a semi-final of this intensity and passion did not deserve two referees like that. They did badly. They were just bad, period.”

Cruyff then acknowledged that Blues manager Guus Hiddink had little choice but to replicate his first-leg strategy and play defensive football against Barca again. But this time, his caginess costs the Londoners.

He said, “Hiddink is not someone who’s in favour of this style of play, but he was aware that it was the only option against a Barca side who were technically superior.

“It was the strategy he used at the Camp Nou and he did it again at home, but it was precisely that over-conservatism which killed Chelsea.

“Yes, it’s true that they had more chances than Barca but they were still playing defensively when they had 11 players against 10. They took out [Didier] Drogba instead of finishing off the tie because they thought the game had been won, or that there was no longer any danger. They were mistaken.

“If you look over the entire 180 minutes, you will realise that the team who will travel to Rome are the only team who tried to play football and who did enough to be granted this dream opportunity.”

Apparantly the ref has recieved death threats and has been smuggled out of the country. What is it with Cheslea losing in Europe and death threats? Didn't that Anders Frisk get similar treatment after another Barca game?
