A minute's silence is just asking for trouble.

A minute's applause would be preferable.

I understand what you're saying pal, and although I probablly know you didn't mean it to sound like it, it could be taken as a sly dig.

This is a day of remembering.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

I was at Man city a couple of seasons ago, the week after George Best died and with the exception of a mindless few the minute's silence was observed.

Alas all the publicity post match was on those few that tried to spoil the paying of respects and yet again we came in for some criticism as a club for the actions of a tiny few.

I'll be absolutly honest with you here, I'm more than a little nervous that the minutes silence at the Chelsea /Liverpool game on Sunday will not be observed. There will be fans who are more than half cut on ale for the late K.O.  ???

However I don't believe a minute's applause would be a suitable way to commomerate this tragic event. Put it this way , how would we feel if come April 15th we did a minutes applause for Hillsborough ?

Apparently whoever is caught booing, will be banned from football grounds up and down the country for a period of time.

So I guess when they had a minute's applause for George Best they were saying "YAY FOR LIVER DISEASE!!!"

Yes?

They wouldn't be applauding the crash itself.

They would be applauding to celebrate the lives of those who died.

Minute silence definately. United as a club were asked to change it to a minutes applaud by the FA but they refused. They said they wanted to remember, and a minutes silence is the best way for them to remember.

A minute's applause is simply a feeble attempt to mask any dis-respectful shouts by those knuckle dragging fans who can't hold their ale or their tongue.

If the football authorities don't want to risk the silence not being observed then simply don't have one but please don't try and hide the fact by organising a minute's applause and giving in to the neandathals ! ???

I have my feelings on this Ian, but if they give it they have to accept its simple as.

A minutes applause for sunday.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Hi Lyns,

You have to qualify who "they" are.

They are the minority of fans who are so narrow and obsessed with their sporting adversaries that they can't put it aside for 1 minute and pay some respect ?  ???

We both know that there are Evertonians who couldn't be trusted to pay due respect over Hillsborough but equally we have some amongst our own who are sorry excuses for humanity when it comes to these sensitive issues.

Like "they" who were at Athens and robbed the tickets of fellow Reds to gain entry to the CL fInal.

Like "they" who beat up an old bloke and left him bleeding and battered just to get his ticket.

Scallies abound at ALL clubs and we are no exception...........
