Joey barton

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby DonnieDarko » Sun Dec 31, 2006 7:50 pm

This guy is one of the most consistently good players in the premiership. He almost singlehandedly is keeping MAN City from relegation. He is a complete midfielder. He can tackle, pass, and score.

I am not saying we should buy him because we have good CMs already but I just think this lad who grew up a Liverpool fan isnt getting the credit he deserves.

:censored: me, why isnt he playing regularly for England. Lampard, Jenas, Carrick are all W*nk. Ablongahor, Lennon, Nolan, and Barton are players who should be playing for England but wont get a look in because of favortism towards the so called stars.

Agree with Lampard, Jenas and Carrick being W*nk but I don't think Barton's better than any of them.

Anyway, time to get rat-arzed.

Barton focused on City

By Peter ORourke -  Created on 31 Dec 2006

Joey Barton's agent claims the Manchester City midfielder is unfazed about speculation over his future.

Reports over the weekend suggested that Newcastle were lining up a move for the midfield dynamo in the January transfer window.

Barton has been in outstanding form this season for City and is currently their top scorer.

The 24-year-old has a release clause of £5.5 million in his contract and several sides including Newcastle and West Ham were reported to be willing to activate the clause to lure Barton away from Eastlands.

However, the player's representative Willie McKay revealed there has been no offers for Barton and that the player is only concentrating on maintaining his fine form and breaking into the England side.

"As far as I know there have been no offers for Joey," McKay told skysports.com.

"Joey is content at Manchester City and I believe if he was to move he would deserve to play for one of the Premiership's top four sides in his current form.

"It is unfortunate he is banned for the next three matches and Joey is only concentrating on getting back to playing and trying to win a place in the England squad in February."

Is he really? Why was he mooning at their supporters after a match between Man City and Everton then? Wasn't it supposed to be an offensive gesture?

Joey Barton, good player but not quite good enough for a club like Liverpool, have bags of passion and heart, but so prone to off field antics although he has appeared to have toned down quite a lot now. Still, not good enough for Liverpool.

He was mooning to his Everton mates.

Only the FA considered it to be an offensive gesture.

He's a decent player alright but we have enough ASBO players in Bellamy and Pennant without adding another to teh ranks  :D

He's toned down by miles. His last tackle wasn't really worthy of a red card. Besides, he offered his hand to the 'victim' didn't he?
