Bit harsh...I wouldn't go that far. The issue however, is only exemplified by the managers reluctance to 'trust' him.  Either that or he infact IS a permenant crock - which i very much doubt.

To call it a "stupendously bad signing" after one season, half of which he has missed - the other half he's figured in about 20% thereof give or take. Is not a reasoned or fair assessment.

That may or may not prove to be the case ultimately...but as of now (should things remain as they are management/owners wise) i would be happier to be as conclusive in review, as you appear to be now. After a World Cup - a meaningful preseason - and a full term under his belt.  Even Gonzalez was afforded a 'window of assessment' longer than that i believe. Albeit, he did eventually fail.

I hope Aquilani takes his chance for next season with both hands, should he be offered one.

Spot on Mick

After one season, half of which he has missed - the other half he's figured in about 20% thereof give or take, is a disasterous signing for a team that had hopes of challenging for the title,  and is on a similar level to going into a season without a decent backup striker.

I'm not going to judge yet, he hasn't played much and yes for this season you can say he is a bad signing. However, in the long run he can be a good one. Next season will be decisive for him.

He looked ok and good in the games he played so I'm keeping my judgment as of now

So far, he is yet to step up to the mark. I want him to prove us all wrong, I really do. I am sure we all do. But...I just question his character and abiltity to adapt.
Any player who has critics like Alberto has, I would be looking for the player to respond by gritting his teeth and giving us 110%. Were decent fans when it comes to being loyal and patient with players. Yet everytime he plays, in my poinion, he seems a bit timid almost, maybe a confidence issue? I am not saying we havnt seen any good points from him, but he's 20 millions worth, I wanna see some return for that type of fee...

The thing is mate, he doesn't get the run of games that he needs to stay sharp or even judge him properly. He gets one game (either he does ok or does very well) then doesn't play the next game. Confidence only builds when you play 4 or 5 games in a trot.

how can anyone judge aqualani is beyond me?

he never starts two games in a row and whenever he plays he looks creative, has ideas, flair, makes great runs forward and gets assists

give him a massive run in the time then judge him?

but that wont happen cause rafa hates him

we're not saying we're not fans, we're saying it was not a good buy for a team with no money to buy an injured substitute, now Rafa is playuing him he can see what he can do, will he start next game? not a chance

He's a quality  player of that much I am convinced ,however  I think we will see the best of him next season ,but we are seeing fleeting glimpses of his abilities as a play maker ,I reckon the lad has a truly impressive repertoire ,but whether he gets the game time in the next few matches to show us any more,  only time will tell .

7 assists and 1 goal in the handfull of times he's played for us says otherwise.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Are you serious bigmick?  He's by far the most technically gifted player in our squad.  He will definitely prove you wrong next season, that's for sure.

Now no doubt he will be wishing him to fail so as to say "see I told you so" followed be the side-kicks' "spot on Mick".

Mick's idea of spotting talent is "Gerrard, Pepe and Fernando are good enough" even though they are some of the the best players in the world. It does not take a genius to spot that.

I am curious to know what he thought of Henry when he was in Italy when he first started no doubt along the lines of "will never make it in the Prem I am certain of that" obviously followed be the customary "spot on Mick"

Remember this is a person that wanted us to buy Keane a while before we bought him. All to say really!

Edit- You do know Mick that it is Gerrard that keeps him out of the team not Lucas. On TV they might put him as a CM but when he plays he is more advanced of Gerrard. His first words when he came were I play more the Gerrard role than the Alonso role. Hense the dilema of playing him. He is never a holding midfielder. When the match started yesterday the TV put him as a CM with Gerrard as the AM but as soon as the match started Gerrard stayed back and Aquilani went forward.
