Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is keeping tabs on Rangers defender David Weir to bolster his defence for next season.

Although Weir is nearing his 83rd birthday Benitez sees him alongside young keeper Dida in a new look defence.

Also looking to lure Gary McCallister out of retirement and has been impressed by Neil Ruddocks appearances on Soccer AM.

I would welcome the move for Cahill over Upson and Kjaer. He (Cahill) is a proven premiership defender and, at 24, has his best playing days to come. I would also support a move for Piennar but can't see Everton selling to us.

For £17 Million though??

Kjaer has a buyout clause in his contract for £10 Mill

That's what I thought as well......so the 17M figure would suggest that the rumour is complete tosh to start with   :D

I wasn't aware of the buy-out clause Kjaer has. I would still be willing to pay slightly more for a proven English centre half but maybe not £7m more.

heard juventus wona swap gigi buffon plus felipe melo for van persie. Dont think wenger will go for it because of buffon wages and age. But i bet i know a manshite manager who wud jump at the chance to swap berbatov. Lets hope that doesnt happen. Because the sh'ite are struggling w.ith keepers.
