Lucas is very good in terms of passes ( 5 yards passes of course) but playing him alongside mascherano week in week out proves that it's not helping the team all. Why can't we just change something that didn't work...? why stick to the same line up that didnt do us favours? It's not about blaming Lucas or else, it's just that we need other options if option 1's not working .

looking at our bench last night i would say options were thin on the ground, it isn't a bad result and with hopefully a much better ref we can still progress to the semi's

We didn't have any option but to play him last night. Aqua is injured, maxi is not available, riera is banished. Yes he had a poor game as did others but to lay the blame ona single plater for the majority of our losses this season is pathetic.

We had Benny on the sub, which is a way better option. But I guess Rafa just want to nick one away goal and kill them off at Anfield? Lets see...

Stan Collaymore often blows a lot of hot air but he made a very valid point whilst presenting on Channel 5 last night.

Question: Does he rates Lucas and does he think he has a future at Liverpool?
Answer: If we see Lucas play in the advanced midfield role for 10-15 games then I think we will see the real Lucas and the one who has won prestigious awards on his home country for being one of the best players. However if we see Rafa continually play him in a defensive MF role then he will continue to do an OK job without being outstanding.

Lucas was also interviewed and he sounded like a Rafa robot with quotes like "we work hard" "we continue to focus on the next game" "we have kwwwaality" etc etc

I think we need to let the shackles of this guy and get him on the field in his favoured (and best position).

The damage he does being in THE single most important position slap bang in the center where all the play goes through...is devastating. You can get away with a c'rap winger (Ray Parlour) or c'rap full back (Phil Neville) and still be successful as they ain't central to the play... a central midfielder is. Its the SINGLE most influential position on the field, the link between defence and attack, the orchestrator of play... and we have a brazilian carthorse in there.

We were outstanding at the weekend with incisive, crisp, creative passing and excellent service to the attack for once... when lucas on the bench. We dont play football when he is on the field.. and 17 losses with him later its infuriating.

you have made your point enough times and now you are just boring and repetitive. if you only have one thing to say then your job on the forum is done.

Well, and at least 2 of them shouldn't be starting on a regular basis.

Lucas does not have to play so deep and defensive, do you think Rafa bans him from going forward?

Colleymore is correct as to not playing Lucas in his natural position which should be on the Bench at Leeds!

How many failed performances do people (and manager) need to see  in order to conclude his is just no good for Liverpool??

If he played in a more advanced position would his passing abilities improve? will he not lose the ball carelessly? will he be more quicker or skillfull?

How long will you be waiting for this dead cat to bounce?

PLEASE GUYS, spend 1 GAME watching only Lucas... come at my place for Birmingham game and we'll all watch only Lucas and see what he does, and see how better you did when you played football with your lads on the improvised pitch when you were 12.

Of course it wasnt Lucas's fault that we lost last night. Or Rafa's. Or even Babel's.
It was a combination of many things with those three being most prominant. Tores one on one was shocking but we can forgive him. What we cant forgive is Rafa stubborness and willingness to play the system he insists on. Defence, rigid, static, laboured.
Saying that they only scored from penalties (needless) so it wasnt that bad a result if, IF he plays a creative team and attacking formation next week at Anfield...
