Agree with all that.. and yes i am bitter, because with a decent possesssion player in central mid who can dictate the game, this team is transformed.

As theres no Alonso (and now lucas) theres no one in central mid who comes deep and takes the ball off the defence, so they now HOOOOOOOOOF.... repeatedly, which gives it back to the opposition, who with any decent attacking players would punish us as we have witnessed in 15 losses.

That 2nd half was shocking... i defy anyone to state they sat comfortable watching that

I agree regarding the penalty mate. He was looking for the foul. IMO if the Lille player wasn't there he'd never have went over like. Credit where it's due though he did well to get into the box in the first place

83 minutes... 83 minutes he was on that field.

Fletcher will never come up easier opponent.

I'm convinced he's related to Rafa.

He was OK as always today, worked hard, covered well and broke up some plays nicely. However, thats about it I guess, like always, his passing was ok and lost alot of possession.

Good old Lucas, squad player at best

They're not related, it's just that they're boyfriend and girlfriend, obviously Lucas being the girl in the relationship(well with that perm anyway :D )

Its been brought to my attention that Bolton, Wolves and Wigan have scored more goals away from home than we have.

Simple reason.. ..those 3 teams don't have 2 non creative central midfielders playing for them

Masch is a world class destroyer, but he has no quality/creative partner alongside him.

We have the worst, least productive/creative central midfield since Souness was in charge (watching Reading tear us apart in there was especially painful)... no team can be competitive with such a handicap.

Sorry mate but you are wrong here. We are not lacking goals because we employ 2 defensive midfielders. We lack goals because the players that play ahead of those 2 (Torres excluded of course) are not producing enough.

Now we know Stevie can obviously score but Kuyt is not good enough. Yossi is good on his day but he is out of the squad so much he can't get any form going and Babel isn't good enough. If we had a some natural wide players on each side it wouldn't be a problem.

True to an extent, but it doesn't just stop there. Lucas is just a easy target for the w"nkers out there who just want to moan. I'll agree Lucas and Mash should not be on the same line-up together, but those two are not the sole reason why we aren't producing enough. Sure it's easy to lay the boot into Lucas, but let's have a look at our so called captain here for a moment? No? Fair enough, sure the Sun shines out of his hole and can do no wrong. He's Mr LFC and how dare we be critical of a player who's done so much for us in the past. It's not about the past. It's about the now. It's not about Gerrard's form or his ability. It's about his attitude, and his attitude is f*cking rotten. Also, our defenders have to take some of the blame for us not producing enough, because how the f*ck can you expect Torres to run and chase a ball that drops from about 50 feet every time, or control, turn and run? The hoofing from them this season, in particular Carragher, has just been ridiculous. It's improved recently, but for a run of a dozen or more games, it was a disgrace.

*facepalm*

And who is there in central midfield to provide the service for those attackers to then produce?? Who "makes the assist for the assist"??

Post Alonso theres no one, because its the worst, least productive, least creative central midfield in 20 years

The attacking players cant produce if they aint getting the service.

In a team with the worlds best ball striking goalscoring attacking midfielder from 25/30 yards, in a team with the worlds most clinical striker...we have gone games this season WITHOUT A SINGLE SHOT ON TARGET.

It aint rocket science

Again, if they aint getting the service they cant produce. They cant suddenly magic the ball to their feet...someone needs to give it to them. The chain in central midfield is broken..there is sweet diddly f'ook all productivity from there, so the only service the attacking players get are HOOFS from the back 4, or one of the full backs.

Masch is the destroyer, so he needs a quality creative player beside him... we had that with Alonso, so we needed to replace him adequately... we havent, which led to Gerrards comments in December he was "devastated" he was no longer at the club and missed the creativity he gave from midfield.

lucas.. played 43, 1 assist, 0 goals, no passing range, no creativity, doesnt come deep to take the ball off the defense so they now have to hoof it..so we then lose possession, no control.

Aquilani with his 1 goal and 1 assist in 90 minutes vs Pompey statistically surpassed what lucas has done in 40 games

A downgrade as vast as lucas for Alonso is too big to contend with and left us with a non productive toothless central midfield that no longer controls games... and gets dominated on a weekly basis.

Playing in the most influential position on the field in the center of midfield, lucas as been at the heart of a whopping 16 losses this season, if rafa continues to pick him he will definitely make it to 20 losses this season.

No one rates the lad outside the club, nor many inside it.... theres an odd little band of merrymen who support failure and defend anything that represents us regardless of their lack of talent

let's face it dudes... when u know that you are already playing with 10 men at the start of the game, do u think u still want to make the effort to cover the duties of this liability for the full 90 minutes? when u already know that no service will be forthcoming, don't u think that u will be disheartened and disappointed with the team selection?

central midfield is the place where battles are fought and won or lost... the whole world including Stevie and Torres see that, except Rafa...  :help
